Regarding Brand Name, I have been travelling throughout the East Coast these past couple of weeks (two more to go till we finally get to Boston!) and have met various prominant figures, in business and government, including a Senator and two Congressmen, and they were all very impressed with me being on my way to Sloan (one of them even offered me a job!).
MIT Sloan, is well known and highly respected in the necesary circles, not just for the MIT brand name but for the Sloan brand name as well. This to me is more important than any ranking.
Just wanted to share an important point that I was told about from one of the above mentioned Congressmen – apparently a number of years back some of the top recruiters of MBA's were complaining that recent grads lacked leadership skills. MIT was one of the few schools who immediately addressed this matter requiring courses and course work that would help strengthen the softer skills of business as well as leadership and ethics. Since, many schools have followed. I am very happy, that this fall I will (G-d willing) be attending a top school which not only teaches innovation but practices it as well.
