good luck with your application – when are you planning to do so?
About life in London – it is fun, and indeed expensive. There are ways to save some expenses, but the main thing is to come prepared – mentally and financially :-). Some financial advantages of London – if you are married your wife will automatically get a work permit.
About recruiting – the answer is – obviously yes. There are all there.
My plans are not closed yet… however it is most likely not going to be in financeI and I am not familiar with "Equity research"
