שלום לכולם! שמי טלי ואני מתכוונת להגיש את מועמדותי לכמה מתוכניות ה-MBA המובילות לשנת הלימודים המתחילה באוגוסט 2005.
אני בעלת תואר במשפטים, אך עיקר הנסיון התעסוקתי שלי הוא דוקא בתחום המחשבים, בעיקר בהטמעה של מערכות Billing באתרי לקוח שונים בעולם.

בתפקידי האחרון עבדתי כ- Business analyst מטעם אמדוקס עבור חברת T-Mobile בסיאטל. במסגרת תפקיד זה אפיינתי דרישות לקוח באשר לגרסאות השונות של מערכת ה- Billing, ניתחתי את השפעתם של שינויים אלה על תהליכי העבודה של הלקוח, על מערכת ה- Billing ועל המערכות הנושקות, הכנתי Testing Requirements עבור שינויים אלה וליוויתי את הטמעתם.

בתפקידי הקודם ניהלתי עבור מספר לקוחות שונים באירופה ובארה"ב Migration ממערכות המקור שלהם למערכת ה- Customer care & billing של אמדוקס, לרבות הכנת תוכניות ה- Migration, תוכניות למקרי כשל ותוכניות לניהול המחלקות השונות של הלקוח בתקופת המעבר, פיקוח של תוכניות אלה וניהול החזרות הגנרליות לקראת הסבת המערכות.

למדתי משפטים באוניברסיטת תל-אביב. סיימתי את התואר בהצטינות והתמחיתי בבית-המשפט העליון.

שירתתי בשלישות הצבאית ברמת גן בתפקיד בתחום התשלומים.

נבחנתי בבחינות ה- GMAT וה- TOEFL כבר לפני כחצי שנה.
ערכתי מספר רב של שיחות עם תלמידים ובוגרים בתוכניות השונות, על מנת לאסוף מידע מירבי והתחלתי בכתיבת קורות החיים ואיסוף ההמלצות.

אני מניחה שאפנה לחברי הפורום לא מעט שאלות בעתיד הקרוב.
אני מקווה שאוכל גם לסייע לחלק מהשואלים האחרים בתשובות, על סמך המידע שאספתי.

טוב, קורסי GMAT הוא נושא שיש לי הרבה מה להגיד עליו…

פעם ראשונה – עדיין לא ידעתי מה אני הולכת לעשות, אבל בקשטע של להשאיר את האופציות פתוחות – עשיתי קורס בקידום. הקורס היה מעולה, הציון מעולה פחות.

החלק הכמותי בקורס היה מצויין. החלק המילולי גם היה כזה. המדריכים הגיעו כשהם יודעים בדיוק מה הם הולכים להעביר, ובדיוק איך הלוח הולך להראות בסוף השיעור. לא היית עסוק בלרדוף אחרי המדריכה ולהבין איפה היא נמצאת. פשוט ללמוד נטו. בצורה מאד מאד מסודרת.

עיקר הבעיה (שלי) היתה באנגלית.

החלטתי לפנות לGMAX ולעשות קורס רק בחלק של אנגלית. מה שקנה אותי כמובן היה העובדה שהשיעורים באנגלית, בי"ס "אמריקאי" כו'.

התוצאה: אותו ציון בדיוק, רק ששיפרתי את החלק הכמותי וירדתי (!!) באנגלית. להלן הניתוח שלי:

המבחנים שיש ל-GMAX מיושנים מאד (עוד מהימים שהמבחן היה ידני). לשיעורים באנגלית אין שום ערך מוסף , משום שהמבחן הוא ברמה גבוהה יותר מזו המדוברת. מה גם שהמדריכים עושים לא מעט טעויות.

בנוסף, המדריכה שלי היתה מאד מבולגנת, וגם להיות עסוקה בלהבין מה היא אומרת, וגם לרדוף אחרי מה שהיא כותבת על הלוח – זה כבר יותר מדי…

בקידום נותנים לך הרבה חומר לתרגול בבית. ב-GMAX יש חומרים שאי אפשר להוציא.

בקיצור… הבנתם מה אני אומרת. קידום מנצח. חד משמעית. הייתי בשניהם.

מניסיוני המוגבל, בעיקר שיחות עם אנשים שלמדו בבתי ספר אלה, ואנשים שעובדים בחברות המובילות בבנקאות וייעוץ, יש לסטודנטים זרים בבתי-ספר אלה קושי של ממש להתקבל למשרות בחברות המובילות.

ישנן חברות מובילות שאינן מטריחות עצמן להגיע לבתי-ספר אלה לשם גיוס עובדים, והדברים נכונים במיוחד לגבי התכניות הקטנות שמדורגות במקומות אלה. קושי נוסף שרלבנטי לחלק מאיתנו – בישראל אין מספיק בוגרים של בתי-הספר האמורים.

אבל, הכל תלוי לאיזה כיוון אתה רוצה ללכת לאחר מכן.

שלום מוטי,

אני רוצה להמליץ בחום רב על קורס ה-GMAT של "מיטב".

אמנם עדין עוד לא סיימתי את הקורס ואני לא יכול להציג בפניך עובדות מוגמרות מבחינת מבחן האמת, אבל בינתיים אני מאוד מרוצה. ראשית, יתרון בולט הוא הקבוצות הקטנות ב"מיטב" (אנחנו רק כ-10 אנשים בכתה). לדעתי, זה יתרון עצום הן מבחינת ההספק והן מבחינת היחס האישי שניתן לקבל להבנה של שיטות פתרון ודוגמאות רבות. שנית, אני מאוד מרוצה משיטת ההדרכה של המדריכים, הן בחלק הכמותי והן בחלק המילולי. גם איירין וגם צחי הם בעלי ידע נרחב במבחן עצמו. בנוסף שעורי החלק המילולי מועברים באנגלית וגם זה יתרון בולט.

אני כבר נגשתי בעבר ל-GMAT לאחר לימוד עצמי באמצעות "kaplan" , ואני חייב לציין שלפחות בחלק המילולי הספר (עם ה-CD) פספס בגדול. הם פשוט לא נתנו שאלות שדומות בסגנון לאלה שהופיעו ב-GMAT. היום בקורס של "מיטב" אני ממש רואה את זה בצורה בולטת, ומבין עד כמה חשוב שהלימוד תואם את הסגנון של ה-ETS.

בקיצור אני ממליץ בחם על הקורס של "מיטב" (אין לי אמנם בסיס השוואה לקורס אחר, אלא רק ללימוד העצמי שעשיתי בעבר).

על-מנת לכוון למלגות עדיף לנסות מקומות מעט פחות פופולריים. בי"ס כמו ברקלי נמצא במקום רביעי!!!! מבחינת אחוזי הקבלה.

דווקא למישיגן יש שם לא רע בכלל ביכולתם לסייע לסטודנטים זרים במציאת מקומות עבודה. זה שמועה, אבל שמעתי אותה מלא מעט אנשים. גם UCLA מוצלחים בתחומים שלהם, ואם האוריינטציה שלך מתאימה למומחיות שלהם, ולמיקום שלהם בחוף המערבי בלוס-אנג'לס אז מצבך טוב.

From my research and visit to Kellogg, the 1-year program is a real gem for Israelis. If you're not keen about 2-year programs, you'd find out that not many Israelis apply to Kellogg's 1-year program, rendering it easier to get admitted.

Needless to say, you'd have to build up a great application and so on, but as I understand it might be easier than getting admitted to any top-5 MBA program. I believe Gilam@Aringo might provide you with his viewpoint about it.

But in the end I chose the culture shock one. Working in Japan gave me a whole stack of examples to choose from…

I looked closely at their placement report and found out:

-Many sponsored students (much more than 2-yr) returning to employers

-Almost all foreigners that weren't sponsored (and most of those that were) went to the major consulting or invst-banking houses.

Not so good if you're looking for industry, medical etc.
