    Hi Maya,

I got an interview at Yale as well. (They came back really fast, no?)

Are you planning to attend it on-campus? Do you know if there is a chance to conduct it in Israel ?

    Good Luck!

    and Regards,

    Ofek,
A friend of mine interviewed for Yale last year in Israel with an alum, so it is possible to interview in Israel.
With that said, I highly recommend to actually visit the schools you are planning to attend in order to really get the feel of the place.
    Best of luck

Yesterday I received an invitation to interview for Wharton!

This was one hell of a long wait.

Michael/Pilpelet, would it be possible to contact you and discuss several questions I have about the interview process?

    Thanks.

No great tips; just be yourself. Have your stories ready but don't try to tailor your answers to what you think the interviewer/Wharton adcomm is looking for. Believe me, there's no specific type. Find the right balance between highlighting your achievements and giving credit to others (in other words, arrogance is not welcome).

Don't stress. You're going to have a nice conversation with your interviewer- all the interviewers in Israel are very friendly. They will not ask any trick questions or try to trip you. They just want to get to know you.

Good luck everyone, and let me know if you have any questions about Wharton.

    Hey,

What's your status with other schools?

    Thanks!

I submitted a day before the deadline. I also applied to Stanford (didn't hear nothing, probably get re-dinged…), Kellogg (they interview everybody) and MIT (didn't hear from as well).

The interview is in Israel with a senior alum. I will update you all after it's over. I heard from a '04 alum that another Israeli/ex-Israeli got an invite, but the guy doesn't partipcate in the forum and I know nothing of his stats.

    Best of luck, OdRP.

    Yael, Gilam~

I heared that it is not reccommended to get interviewd here in Israel by an alum. When ydo you think it is worth teheffort to go all teh was to the US?

Do you really think it has such a srong impact?

Also, what is tehprocedure after you get interveiwed by an alum? How much 'weight' does it have when the admission board reviews your app?

As far as I know most current Israeli students at Wharton were interviewed by an alum in Israel, so not sure why it's not recommended (definitely worked for me).

In my opinion choosing to be interviewed in the US is a risk since you'll be judged by a non-Israeli, whose standards and expectations are very different from what you're used to in Israel. If you're not familiar with the US interview culture you'll have a harder time "selling" yourself well. An Israeli interviewer will better understand your background and be able to judge you based on how impressive your achievements are in Israeli standards (for better or for worse of course).

Just to clarify this is just my opinion and not based on any "inside" information.

First of all – CONGRATS!!! When are you starting your MBA?

Second, I heard this from someone who is a Stanford graduate and he strongly recommended an on-campus interview. He said that it shows commitment and seriousness, and that sometimes seeing the person can make a stronger impression.
But I guess that you are right and it sure worked for you so…

and finally … could you tell a bit about the interview you had?

    I started my MBA 1.5 years ago… I'm a Wharton 2nd year.

As for what the Stanford grad told you – it may be true for Stanford, never heard anyone say that about Wharton, especially when it comes to international students. It's also possible that other people at Wharton may have a different opinion than mine.

My interview included some of the standard questions, no surprises there. Interviewer was extremely nice and friendly. Really nothing unexpected, just a nice conversation.

    Hey,

How did the interview go? Have you heard of other interview invitations?

Did you get the mail from Stanford that you're considered in R1?

    Good Luck!

    Hi Pilpelet, how are you?

I still didn't receive an e-mail from Stanford about being considered to R1, even though my status in the web-site is "Your application is currently under review". What about you, did you receive an e-mail? Do you see the same status in their site?

About HBS, well, in two words I would say simply awful. In one word, awful. Didn't have the chemistry with the interviewer at all, I believe he made up his mind even before meeting me. Do talk to me if you get an invite, I'll have some recommendations about it…

I only know of one other invitation to HBS (besides mine) and one invitation to Stanford sent to an Israeli fellow.

    Hey,

Re. Stanford – I'm in the same status as you for online app. and interview invite.

HBS – sorry to hear but I wouldn't rush to any conclusions – I think HBS tries to grill people in interviews. Since you're the only Israeli I know who was interviewed and they most probably will admit Israelies in R1 you stand good chances. Only 50 days to wait now :-) I sure hope I get a chance to interview.

Has the person who was interviewed for Stanford received a "you're considered in R1" email beforehand?

    Good Luck.

Thanks for the cheering up, guys and pilpelets :-)

Pilpelet: I don't know if the guy got an email from adcom or not. My pessimistic intuition tells me that just like last year, Stanford released all Israeli invites at the same day. Last year it was on the last week of November as well. However, the year before, they sent invites even after the deadline, so don't throw away your Sidur. Not yet, that is

    Don't speculate- flow with it.

Last year I received the interviews invitations quite late for Stanford and very early for HBS- you can't control it anyway so leave it alone.

As for "how many got invitations"- there are quite a few strong applicants that are not on your map, people that are currently in London or the US (2 of the 6 2nd years in HBS) or people that are no using this website for instance.

Just take a vacation or work your ass off and let the time pass

    my 2 cents

Hey my 2nd Insead interview was also pretty bad–no chemistry, no sense of humor (very important to me), coming from a totally different world than the one I'm aiming for–but I think I addressed most of my strengths, goals etc.

    Now it's 7 weeks of waiting… I need to get a hobby.

Good luck!! I'm sure you don't know exactly how you did, just work on your faults for the next ones…
