Congratulations Idan.

I am sorry, but I have not (yet?) enjoyed the special experience that is the HBS interview so I can't help you with that.

When did you get the invite? It was my understaning that there will be no invites this week, from HBS, or anywhere else, as it is Thanksgiving. I know Thanksgiving is just the weekend (Thurs – Sun) but apparently the adcoms take the whole week off. I can understand they need a break from reading applications but I don't know if my nerves can take it!

קיבלתי את הזימון לפני 10 ימים, אבל שלחתי את הטפסים מאד מוקדם (יצאתי למילואים ולכן הייתי חייב לשלוח מוקדם).

עד כמה שאני יודע הם מושכים את הראיונות לפעמים עד ינואר, כך שהכל פתוח!

Hey AZ,

You can relax, admissions aren't closed this week – only Thursday and Friday. It says so in all the schools web site but just to make sure I asked Sandy from BW as well. I got a rather ridiculing response (my question is bellow):

dates that HBS and S admissions offices are closed are posted on their websites. I mean, do you guys read school websites, or do you just rub your pants and apply with whatever comes out?

HBS MBA Admissions Office Schedule Updates:

Office Closed: Friday, November 10th for Veteran's Day
Office Closed: Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving

I've heard a rumor that HBS admissions (and all of the other schools for that matter) are on vacation the entire week due to Thanksgiving, so there will not be any interview invites this week.

Any truth to this rumor?

That was an awesome answer from Sandy!

I actually read the original info on a different BW thread. I have been looking in to it myself, on the school websites (better than just rubbing my pants – I loved that line) and it would seem some people mixed up Thanksgiving and Christmas, as some of the schools take off the week from Christmas till after New Years, but Thanksgiving is just a weekend of turkey and football.

May we all hear good news soon and remember to give thanks for it.

כעיקרון קבעתי את הראיון לשבוע הבא אבל בגלל נסיעה אני מנסה להקדים אותו להשבוע.

Hi,

I am sure it makes more than two of us… don't forget the silent crowd.

The main insight from his interview was that you have to know your application VERY VERY VERY WELL and be ready to defend every single hole or weakness in it. These guys did an extremely thorough job of reading the application.

I would recommend you give the application to someone who doesn't know you very well, and let him come up with as long a list as possible of questions that come up to mind when reading the application.

I wouldn't want to share specific question without my friend's prior consent, so I would have to ask him.

In general be ready for questions regarding different choices you made in life, why you made them, and why didn't you choose alternative (sometimes more common) paths.
