I spoke about loans, not scholarships…
The loan from Ross (or should I say from CitiBank) is really easy to obtain.
You just need to state you need it and how much are you planning to borrow.
After you start school you can adjust the sum according to your expenses (backed up by invoices or flight itineraries- you are allowed for 3 flights home during a school year). You don't have to take the maximum sum, but if you need it you can.
You don't start paying back the loan before 6 months after graduation, so no worries about paying anything (but your expenses, covered by the loan) in the next couple of years…
It takes about a month to actually receive the money (from the time you get to AA), in which you need to pay rent (and deposite), furnish your apartment, buy a laptop and some home appliances, etc. so bringing with you a few thousands dollars is a good idea…
As up to this point I only borrowed money, I can't tell you from my experience how long did it take to repay it… You can have up to 20 years (or so) to repay it, with no penalties if you pay prior to that (which means that you can pay it all in 3-4 years if you have the extra cash…)
If you have more specific questions feel free to email me directly,

First, the weather in Ann Arbor, Michigan is actually not that bad. It's milder than the weather in New York (NYU and Columbia), Boston (Harvard and MIT), New Hampshire (Tuck) or Chicago (Chicago and Kellogg), as there is less humidity and hardly ever wind here, which makes the cold still cold but more bearable and less "hoder la'azamot".
The houses are insulated better than in Israel, so although outside may be freezing cold (last year the lowest was -14 degrees Celsius), the house stays nice and warm. For instance, right now it's 8 degrees outside and the heating is not on. I slept with it on last night and the house is still warm…
So don't worry about the weather! A good coat (that you buy here, not in Israel) and a nice pair of gloves will take you through the winter here easily.
As for the interview…
Prepare your answers in advance. Know your stories very well (work with someone to listen to you practice your answers in English): why MBA, why now, why Michigan; Career goals and aspirations (and make then fit well the why stories…).
They choose people that fit the collaborative culture of the school- emphasize your team work experience and your leadership skills (army).
Hope it helps…
Feel free to ask more questions…

The big high-tech companies come to recruit on campus (Microsoft, Amazon, eBAy, Google, Apple, Dell, etc.) as well as some smaller ones and we also have opportunities to work in startups through a program that Marcel Gani (a philanthrop and a VP at Juniper) is sponsoring. You can read a little more about it at http://www.zli.bus.umich.edu/events_programs/internships.asp
Google just opened an office in Ann Arbor and there are some startups and small companies in the area (so there are some local opportunities), but your chances are higher to stay local and find a high-tech job if you leave in the west coast…
We have MAP projects in high-tech (a few are even local). I did one in Santa Clara that ended up being a local one because the company didn't have money to fly us out there… just remember that high-tech is a lot of things and depending on your interest, you might not have enough (you need to rank 10 options) local high-tech opportunities to choose from. But I wouldn't worry about that as the MAP was built to accommodate learning in the most supportive atmosphere and there's no better opportunity to get out of your comfort zone than choosing a project in a field you have no experience in.
To read more about the MAP program go to http://www.bus.umich.edu/Academics/GMBA/Curriculum/map.htm
Let me know if you have more questions,

Any great tips about scholarships other than the ones from the schools themselves (which I was not fortunate enough to have been offered)?
Apparently there's a difference of a few thousands of dollars between the estimated sum the school thinks we need and the sum the US authorities want to see to aprove the student visa…

Thank you for the offer, It's very nice of you!
They told me not to do anything ’cause they want to leave the competition fair (now I'm competing with R3 people as well as on available spaces from R2 that won't register).
Chances are slim but I'm trying to stay optimist.
Best of luck and Enjoy!

I'm on waitlist at Wharton, what a nightmare!!!!
MIT didn't invite me to an interview, which is very disappointing. I still have a shread of hope that they'll invite me to a phone interview…
Michigan accepted me, so I have at least one in my pocket.
So you're going to philly?

If they can't undersatnd us it's their F&$##% problem!
I believe we can do as well (if not better) in our professional life, and they can share the burden at home!
Good luck to us all (~2 weeks to the big moment for me…),

Congrats to all the people that received interviews invitations!
Especially the Kellogg ones (which I'm most envy of)
Still haven't heard anything from Cornell, MIT, Stanford and the most important one- Kellogg (did I say I'm envious and disappointed already?)
But as I submitted my apps at the very last minute for all of them, I'll be patient… and stay optimist…
I had my first interview today (Carnegie-Mellon), with an AdCom lady. Wasn't as bad as I feared it'll be. Tomorrow is the big day with Wharton (!) wish me luck!
Good luck with the interviews to all…

To: greenfeld, All
I received an invitation for an interview with Wahrton yesterday.
To answer your question regarding when did I receive the "application complete" status- this happened on Jan 16, 10 days after I submitted my application (in the last minute of the deadline).
Hope it helps and good luck to everybody (including me )

Thank you all for the good wishes!
I can't belive I'm one of these people I envied just 2 months (up to 2 days) ago… but there's still a lot in front of me!
I"ll probably work like crazy this week, so no big celebrations, because next week I'm presenting in a show in Cannes, France, so no time to celebrate.
But don't y'all worry, I'll celebrate in Paris when I'm finished with the show next weekAddiחברפברואר 8, 2005 בשעה 2:50 amמספר הפוסטים: 48Addiחברפברואר 8, 2005 בשעה 2:45 amמספר הפוסטים: 48
After laying low for a while, I'm pleased (feels like writing another essay, this language…) to say I received an invitation for an interview with Wharton today!
I also received an interview invitation from Carnegie Mellon (someone did it in round 1? ant tips?) and the email from Kellogg saying they waive my interview (what was the decision? is it good or bad?)
I missed the Michigan interview opportunity- anyone with any tips for securing my position there?
Waiting now for Stanford, MIT and Cornell.
A bit about me (I know this question might come..)

I also did not get the letter with my TOEFL grades yet, though I took it on Aug 30 (!) and called the ETS offices in NJ on Sep 29 and asked them to re-send.
Just talked to them yesterday, they said it takes up to 3 weeks to get it after they sent it out, so be patient…
The number is: +1-609-77-7100
and if you'd like to request more copies of the grades to be sent to universities, call +1-609-771-7267
Hope you already found these numbers yourself, but just in case…

Nice grand tour you're planning!
Is it part of your honeymoon?
I'm actually planning almost the same trip mid Sep (I hope my job grants me the vacation days to do that)… I"ll let you know if that's going to happen.
Congratulations again on your marriage and enjoy the trip!

yes, you are talking to another (30 year old, mind you) woman.
Maybe we can have a talk and pick each other's brain sometimes? I think that in this stage I would be the one picking your brain more… but we can keep in touch and share thoughts and ideas… well, if you'd like to, give me a call 066-333-923

Hi again M,
Are you in the process? after? where did you apply to?
I think you're a woman too, right? might I ask how old are you? I"m having second and third thoughts about going for such an adventure when I'm 30 years old now… what about the biological clock and being a Mom one day… did you have such thoughts too?

I appreciate the comment.
I'm pretty lost here..
If not through this book, how the heck do I research to find out where should I apply to?
Is there any other source of info (apart from the Internet, of course), that is reliable, accurate and complete that I should look in to?
