My full answer would be quite a long one as I have been gathering material on both schools for over 3 years now. In a nutshell, these are quite different schools (conceptually and even physically speaking). My individual goals are to enhance my diverse IT experience into a more challenging IT position (though I keep my mind open) in a non-pure IT/software working place. I find the IT life too dynamic, so to speak, and my expectations from an MBA is mainly to acquire tools and networking to allow such a transition.
Thus, I have not decided yet but my slight tendency is right now with Chicago, who seem to have exquisite career services. That said, Kellogg is like a dream that came true (I love its classic IVY League aura) and bear in mind that I have no idea if I will make it from the waitlist in Chicago…
Nevertheless, my first choice was LBS but I have grown quite concerned with their very limited assistance in finding ways to finance my MBA there (living costs in London can render you literally broke in a blink of an eye) – so I am still working on that too…

I got a rather 'dry' reply from the Financial Aid office at LBS (something like – "you are on your own here" since it is not in LBS policy to give intrinsic, low interest loans). Even though England is my dream, I will carefully examine the Financial Aid in Kellogg before I make a decision (considering the fact that Kellogg is also a fine school and that the cost of living there is considerably lower…)
Anyhow, tough decision
BTW – I am on the messenger ([email protected]), feel free to drop a line in a less cunbersome manner

so far:
LBS – in (cheers)
Kellogg – in (nobody expects the spanish inquisition)
Chiago – waitlist (sometimes you eat the bear, and well hmm, sometimes… the bear eats you)

Just got the interview invitation to LBS…

Thanks man,
Indeed, the inetrview in my case came as an email. Bear in mind that since I am in the US at the moment (relocation), it might explain the relatively fast invitation at this time. My impression is that Chicago invites most applicants for an interview…
Already bought 2 suits:)
Good luck and remember that the night is still young

Invited to Chiacgo. Scheduled an interview on Dec 2nd (and sweep Kellogg on the fly the next day)
בתגובה ל: ארכיון 2: שאל את ארינגו: תהליך הקבלה #7493To: All
Hi,
As a fellow appliacnt I have also deliberated on the same question. In my case, two of my appraisers have asked me to send them my essays for them to stimulate some ideas and understand what points to substantiate. Although the resulted recommnedations may be different in style, there is a high probability that they will reflect some overlapping ideas.
Is it not reasonable to assume that this may justify such a similiarity (at least in content)?
Furthermore, as my direct supervisor, who can attest best to both my potential and my ablitites, has a rather mediocre English, he may use phrases from my essays, which may also be a cause for concern.
I would appreciate any comments on those questions.
Thanks,
Yuval

בתגובה ל: ארכיון 2: שאל את ארינגו: תהליך הקבלה #6196To: Gilam
Hi Gilam,
I am a software engineer currently in Denver USA and I am contemplating seriously on enroling (trying that is) to an MBA in 2006, perferably in one of the top 10.
Although my primary intention after gaduation is to pursue managerial positions in the wide area of IT, such positions may vary and not necessarily relate to my current position which is Sr. Software Eng & System Analyst in a blue chip company. Therefore, I am in the opinion that programs that offer a substantial internship are more suitable for that goal.
I would be most appreciative if you could elaborate a little on programs in the top 10 that offer such internship and perhaps maintain warm relationships with their local market.
Thanks a lot Gilam,
Yuval
