Working after business school – my 2 cents.
1) first of all, like a lot of things in life, finding a job after B-school can be determined by pure luck.
2) in prior years when Wall St. needed a lot of "bodies" they were much more willing to take career changers. in that sense, Sep 11th and the burst of the bubble changed everything. if you were a Lawyer and now want to do I-Banking your chances are not as good.
3) it really really helps if you know what you want to do before you come to business school. the less you spread your search the more it is likely you will find a job.
4) interviewing for a "Corporate America" / Wall St. / consulting job is a totally different ball game. once you have a 7 back to back 30 minutes interviews you will know what i am talking about. the only thing you can do is find an american who likes you and use him as a mentor / Kotel Maaravi.
5) dont count on israelis who have jobs to help you. they either cannot or will not. there r some saints but most of them simply forgot how crapy it is to llok for a job.
6) MOST IMPORTANTLY – you are not the first who hates shmmozing in a corporate reception hoping to get a business card and arrange for an informational. "i hate it", "Shmoozing is not for me", "im not good at shmoozing" are all lame excuses, if you want a job you have to kiss ass and if you will not you will probably not find a job.

בבתי הספר האירופאים המצב הרבה יותר קשה במיוחד לסטודנטים בינ"ל (מחוץ לאיחוד האירופי) בגלל חוקי העבודה הנוקשים משכבר הימים.
בארה"ב אם התקבלתה ללמוד הויזה מאפשרת להשאר לחפש עבודה ולעבוד במשך בין שנה לשנה וחצי אחרי הלימודים. זה מאפשר למצוא עבודה בצורה הרבה יותר קלה מאשר באירופה בה המעביד צריך לסדר לך ויזה מהיום הראשון.

1. הספר של מונטק הוא אכן התנ"ך הלא רישמי לעניין קבלה ל-MBA, אני אישית מאוד החכמתי מקריאתו בנוסף לכל אלו שמעונינים לראות דוגמאות למאמרים שאחרים כתבו יש שם אוסף אדיר.
2. לא מזמן שוחחתי עם מישהי שלומדת כעת שנה ראשונה ב- LBS והיא מסרה לי את הנתון הטראומתי של 30% שמצאו עד כה מקום לסטאז' בקיץ, בהחלט נתון מבהיל.
