זימונים

סטנפורד בראש הדירוג של פורבס

בשבוע שעבר פורבס פרסמו את הדירוג הדו-שנתי של תוכניות ה-MBA הטובות בארה"ב, והציבו את סטנפורד במקום הראשון, בדיוק כמו בדירוג של 2013. הרוורד, שלפני שנתיים דורג במקום השלישי, עלה השנה למקום השני, בעוד קלוג עלה מהמקום החמישי לשלישי. במקום הרביעי דורג קולומביה ובמקום החמישי טאק. וורטון ושיקגו נותרו במפתיע מחוץ לחמישיה המובילה.

הדירוג של פורבס מתבסס על נתון ה- ROI – ההחזר על ההשקעה של בוגרי 2010. בוגרי סטנפורד שבמקום הראשון הרויחו בממוצע 255,000$ בשנת 2014, החזירו את ההשקעה תוך 4.2 שנים, והתשואה להשקעה שלהם עומדת על 89100$. בוגרי הרוורד שבמקום השני הרויחו בממוצע 239,000$ בשנת 2014, החזירו את ההשקעה תוך 4.2 שנים, והתשואה להשקעה שלהם עומדת על 83500$.

PTE Academic

Pearson VUE delivers English language proficiency exams for
non-native speakers of English who need to demonstrate their English
language ability. PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic is the world’s
leading computer-based test of English for study abroad and immigration.
PTE is accepted by thousands of institutions worldwide, and approved by
the Australian Government for visa applications and accepted by
thousands of institutions in the UK, Australia, USA, Canada, New
Zealand, and Ireland, including Harvard, Yale and INSEAD.

PTE Academic scores are accessed via an online account. You
will receive an email notifying you once your scores are available.
After you receive this, you will need to login to the Pearson Vue
account that you created to book your test. Typically, PTE Academic results are available within five business days.

PTE Academic is scored against the Global Scale of English,
a thermometer-style scale that gives you an accurate overview of your
skills. The Global Scale of English aligns with a variety of popular
tests and scales around the world.

Your score report has several sections:

• Your personal details and photo
• Your overall score
• A detailed breakdown of your performance

The PTE Academic Score Report includes your overall score, communicative skills scores and enabling skills scores.

The overall score reflects your overall English language
ability. The score is based on performance on all items in the test. The
range for the overall score is 10-90 points.

Scores for communicative skills (listening, reading,
speaking and writing) are based on all test items that assess these
skills, either as a single skill or together with other skills. The
range for each communicative skill score is 10-90 points.

Scores for enabling skills (grammar, oral fluency,
pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and written discourse) are based on
all test items assessing one or more of these skills. The range for each
enabling skill score is 10-90 points.

The display of the scores in a graph allows you to quickly
see your strengths and weaknesses, and how each skill relates to your
overall performance.

There are PTE Academic test centres located in over 50 countries worldwide.

You do not need any special computer skills. We recommend
taking one of our practice tests to get used to moving through tasks.
You can also watch the tutorial on our website.

You can take PTE Academic as many times as you like. You must wait to receive your scores before you can book your next test.

The PTE Academic is accepted as TOEFL substitute at the following MBA programs:

• Stanford (minimum required 68).
• HBS (minimum recommended 75).
• Booth (minimum required 70)
• Columbia
• Fuqua
• Cornell
• Tuck

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
is the world’s most popular high stakes English-language test for study,
work and migration, with more than 2.2 million tests taken each year.

IELTS assesses all of your English skills — reading,
writing, listening and speaking — and is designed to reflect real life
use of English — at study, at work, and at play.

The IELTS test is developed by some of the world’s leading
experts in language assessment. It has an excellent international
reputation, and is accepted by over 9,000 organisations worldwide,
including schools, universities, employers, immigration authorities and
professional bodies.

IELTS is the most widely accepted English language test
that uses a one-on-one speaking test to assess your English
communication skills. This means that you are assessed by having a
real-life conversation with a real person. This is the most effective
and natural way of testing your English conversation skills.

IELTS is the world’s proven test. Due to its high quality
controls, IELTS is accepted by more than 9,000 organisations in over 145
countries.

• Universities, schools, training colleges, tertiary institutes
• Government departments and agencies
• Professional and industry bodies
• Multinational companies and employers.

Most of the top MBA programs accept the IELTS as a alternative for the TOEFL.

The IELTS Global Recognition System can tell you exactly which organisations accept IELTS and the scores they require.

IELTS recognises both British and American English in terms
of spelling, grammar and choice of words. It also incorporates a mix of
native speaker accents from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and
US in the Listening component.

IELTS tests are offered up to four times a month in over
900 test venues in more than 140 countries. The cost of taking the test
is set locally and payable in the local currency, making registration
convenient. Results are issued 13 calendar days after the test. Official
IELTS test centres can send Test Report Forms directly to your
organisation or institution (provided it has been nominated), either by
mail or as an electronic download.

You have a choice of two versions of IELTS: Academic or General Training.

Everybody takes the same Listening and Speaking components. It is the Reading and Writing components that differ.

You will take the Listening, Reading and Writing tests all on the same day one after the other, with no breaks in between them.

Your Speaking
test will either be after a break on the same day as the other three
tests, or up to seven days before or after that. This will depend on
your test centre.

Test Report Form

Your Test Report Form will be posted to you 13 days after the test. All test centres will post your Test Report Form to you.

You will only receive one copy of your Test Report Form,
unless you are applying to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), or
United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) – in these cases, you can
receive two. Proof of application to CIC and UKVI must be provided.

You can have copies of your Test Report Form automatically
sent to five institutions free of charge. This helps streamline your
application processes. Additional copies will incur a small
administration charge.

Your Test Report Form is a valuable document and you should keep it safe and secure because it cannot be replaced.

It includes:

• your score, on a Band Scale from 1 to 9, for each section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking)
• your Overall Band Score, on a scale from 1 to 9
• whether you have completed IELTS Academic or General Training
• your candidate photo and details of your nationality, first language and date of birth.

Test Report Forms are valid for a recommended period of two
years. They have inbuilt security measures and cannot be copied.
Receiving institutions can also access a database to double-check your
results.

SMS alerts and online results preview services

Some test centres provide SMS alerts and online results preview services.Contact your local test centre to find out more.

There is no pass or fail in IELTS. The test assesses all levels of English proficiency.

Test takers are graded on their performance in the test,
using scores from 1 to 9 for each part of the test – Listening, Reading,
Writing and Speaking. Your results from the four parts then produce an
overall Band Score.

This unique 9-band system measures scores in a consistent
manner – wherever and whenever the test is taken. It is internationally
recognised and understood, giving you a reliable international currency.

מהם הסיכויים להתקבל בתור Re-applicant?

כתבה שפורסמה באתר Poets & Quants בדקה את אחוזי הקבלה בקרב re-applicants בתוכניות המובילות, וזאת לאחר שהרוורד פרסמו כי 10% (94 מתוך 937) מהמתקבלים לתוכנית ה-MBA של הרוורד השנה היו re-applicants, כלומר כבר הגישו מועמדות בעבר ונדחו. זו הפעם הראשונה שהרוורד מפרסמים נתון כזה, למרות שהם עדיין לא מפרסמים מהו אחוז ה-re-applicants בקרב כלל המועמדים או מהם אחוזי הקבלה בקרב re-applicants.

רוב התוכניות המובילות לא מדווחות על נתונים כאלה, אך ידוע שבדרך כלל אחוזי הקבלה של re-applicants נמוכים יותר מאשר של מועמדים רגילים, כאשר רק בקולומביה באופן חריג בשנת 2013-2014 היה אחוז הקבלה של re-applicants גבוה יותר משל מועמדים רגילים (21% לעומת 18%), כאשר 8% מכלל המועמדים היו Re-Applicants. ב-Yale עמד אחוז הקבלה בקרב Re-Applicants בשנת 2013-2014 על 22% לעומת אחוז קבלה כולל של 24%, כאשר Re-Applicants היוו 6% מכלל המועמדים. במישיגן באותה שנה עמד אחוז הקבלה של Re-Applicants על 32% לעומת אחוז קבלה כללי של 35%, כאשר ב-UCLA היה פער קטן יותר – 17% לעומת 18%.

התוכניות המובילות הפכו לסלקטיביות יותר בעשור האחרון

כתבה באתר Poets & Quants סוקרת את הסלקטיביות הגוברת של תוכניות ה-MBA המובילות, המתבטאת בירידה הדרגתית באחוזי הקבלה לאורך העשור האחרון.

לדוגמא, ב-2005 עמד אחוז הקבלה ל-HBS על 15.7%, בעוד שב-2014 צנח האחוז ל-11%. זאת למרות שציון ה-GMAT הממוצע עלה מ-707 ב-2005 ל- 726 ב-2014. ההשוואה בין 2005 ל-2014 בבתי ספר אחרים מראה ירידה באחוז הקבלה ב-Duke מ-45.6% ל- 25.1%, בברקלי מ- 23.1% ל-13.2%, בוורטון מ- 21.1% ל-20.7%, בקלוג מ- 24.2% ל-23.2% וב-MIT מ- 22% ל-13.8%. ביה"ס היחיד שאחוז הקבלה שלו עלה באותה תקופה הוא קולומביה – מ- 15% ב-2005 ל-18.2% ב-2014.

Dual-degree applicants: For applicants to the MMM or JD-MBA dual degree programs, please explain why that program is right for you. (250 words)

Re-applicants: Since your previous application, what steps have you taken to strengthen your candidacy? (250 word limit)

If needed, use this section to briefly describe any extenuating
circumstances (e.g. unexplained gaps in work experience, choice of
recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance, etc.)

Video Essays:

After
submitting a completed application, each applicant will be asked to
complete two Video Essay Questions. One will be about the candidate’s
interest in Kellogg and the other will be a “getting to know you” type
of question.
There are 10 practice questions which candidates can
complete as many times as they like to get comfortable with the format
and technology. The practice questions and experience will simulate the
actual video essay experience, so this is meant to be a useful tool and
help applicants feel prepared.
There is not an opportunity to re-do
the answer to the official video essay questions. We encourage
applicants to practice so they are comfortable with the format once it
is time to complete the official questions.
Candidates will have 20 seconds to think about their question and up to 1 minute to give their response.
We estimate the Video Essays will take 15-20 minutes to complete –
which includes time for set-up and answering all the practice questions.

The first question is a random icebreaker question, with no “right answer”.
The second question will be: “What path are you interested in pursuing, how will you get there, and why is this program right for you?”

חידושים במבחן ה-GMAT החל מה-19.7

שני שינויים חשובים במבחן ה-GMAT החל מה- 19.7.2015:

האות C, המייצגת ציון שהנבחן בחר לבטל, לא תופיע עוד בדו"ח הציונים של
ה-GMAT, כלומר בתי הספר אליהם יישלח דו"ח הציונים לא ידעו שהנבחן בחר לבטל
ציון. כזכור, החל מהשנה שעברה ניתנת לנבחנים האפשרות לראות את הציון שלהם
מייד בתום המבחן ולהחליט באותו רגע האם לבטל את הציון, אולם עד עתה המבחן
המבוטל הופיע בדו"ח הציונים של המבחן עם האות C.
השינוי יחול עבור דו"חות ציונים שיישלחו אחרי ה- 19.7 גם עבור מבחנים שבוטלו לפני ה- 19.7.

מועמדים יוכלו להיבחן שוב לאחר 16 יום מבחינתם הקודמת (כיום תקופת ההמתנה

Essay Questions for the Class of
2018

We request that you write two personal
essays. The personal essays give us glimpses of your character and hopes. In
each essay, we want to hear your genuine voice. Think carefully about your
values, passions, aims, and dreams prior to writing them.

Essay A: What matters most to
you, and why?

For this essay, we would like you to:

Focus
on the “why” rather than the “what.”

·
Do
some deep self-examination, so you can genuinely illustrate who you are and how
you came to be the person you are.

·
Share
the insights, experiences, and lessons that shaped your perspectives, rather
than focusing merely on what you’ve done or accomplished.

·
Write
from the heart, and illustrate how a person, situation, or event has influenced
you.

Essay B: Why Stanford?

Enlighten us on how earning your MBA at
Stanford will enable you to realize your ambitions.

Explain
your decision to pursue graduate education in management.

·
Explain
the distinctive opportunities you will pursue at Stanford.

Length

Your answers for both essay questions
combined may not exceed 1,150 words. Below are suggested word counts per essay,
but you should allocate the maximum word count in the way that is most
effective for you.

Michigan Ross Event in Tel Aviv – 7.5.15

We are pleased to invite you to
the Michigan Ross reception that the Israel at Ross club, along with
this year’s Ross iTrek, is hosting together in Tel Aviv!

קולומביה פרסמו שאלות חיבורים חדשות לתוכנית ה-MBA שמתחילה ב-2016:

Applicants must complete one short answer question and three essays.

Short Answer Question:
What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 characters maximum)

Examples of possible responses:
“Work in business development for a media company.”
“Join a strategy consulting firm.”
“Launch a data-management start-up.”

Essay 1:
Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your
professional path to date. What are your career goals going forward, and
how will the Columbia MBA help you achieve them? (Maximum 500 words)

Essay 2:
Columbia Business School’s location enables us to bridge theory and
practice in multiple ways: through Master Classes, internships, the New
York Immersion Seminars, and, most importantly, through a combination of
distinguished research faculty and accomplished practitioners. How will
you take advantage of being “at the very center of business”? (Maximum
250 words)

Essay 3:
CBS Matters, a
key element of the School’s culture, allows the people in your Cluster
to learn more about you on a personal level. What will your Clustermates
be pleasantly surprised to learn about you? (Maximum 250 words)

Optional Essay:
An optional fourth essay will allow you to discuss any issues that do not fall within the purview of the required essays.
