Hi Godzila,

I don't think that Danny was trying to be condescending, but rather giving his take on the issue. The thing is that this forum was set up by us to allow future candidates to hear what graduates, admitted candidates and future candidates have to say based on their experiences. As long as people try to help others, I thing they should enjoy the benefit of the doubt before being pounced upon.

I would really hate to see this forum become a place where someone can't voice his opinions without being considered an arogant self-centered prick. If we were such people we probably would not spend the time to help other people who wish to learn from our experience.

With regard to the issue at hand – it is true that some people manage to get accepted to a top tier MBA with a 640 Gmat score, but not many. Those that do get in usually have to have done some really special things to make it with this score. Us "normal" people would probably do ourselves a good service by trying to improve a 640 score if we want to attend a top 5 school.

Please try and tone it down so that this initiative continues.

It doesn't really matter how schools treat people who have taken the GMAT more then once and improved their score because, with all do respect, your current score wouldn't get you into the top schools.

You don't have any other choice other than improving your score. As to wether you should take a course, I can't really comment since I hadn't taken one, nor most of the Israelis I know. I guess it can't hurt since it gives you a structured environment.

לא יזיק לך אם תהיה קצת פחות מתנשא, למרות כל הנסיון שלך. דבר ראשון, יש הרבה מאוד ישראלים, לידיעתך, שכן עושים קורסים וכן משפרים ציונים בזכות הקורסים שעשו. זה לא רק עניין של "סביבה לימודית" אלא עניין של בחינה טכנית ולחוצה בזמן שצריך לדעת איך להתמודד איתה (אני מניח שאתה תותח וזה לא רלוונטי לגביך…). עם ציון של 640, תתפלא, כן מתקבלים לטופ של הטופ, ולבתי ספר "נחשבים" אפילו יותר מהמוסד שבו אתה לומד. יש כרגע באוניברסיטאות בחו"ל אנשים עם ציונים שכאלה. זה לא אומר שאדם עם ציון של 640 לא יצטרך מאוד להתאמץ (כמו שבאותה מידה אדם עם 780 יתאמץ ואולי יידחה, והיו הרבה דברים מעולם, תציץ קצת בביזנס וויק פורומס סתם להשכלה כללית ולהעשרה בזמנך הפנוי) אך אתה יודע טוב מאוד שרזומה מנופח, ראיון טוב וממליצים פיצוציים (גם אם לא עומד מאוחרי ההמלצה שלהם כלום) יכניסו אותך אפילו להרווארד. ציון גבוה באמת כבר לא אומר שום דבר קונקלוסיבי היום והרבה מאוד תלוי בתמונה הכוללת שאתה יוצר, ושוב – גם בטופ של הטופ.
