Hi Gilam,
I have a couple of questions about my admission chances. Here is my personal profile:
Age: 26.5
Israeli + American citizenship
GMAT: 780, TOEFL: 293
I was in the army in the intelligence corps for 3.5 years, out of which 2 years in a managerial role (not an officer).
During the army I developed a program that mechanized processes in my department, and this was done out of my official role and in extra hours (took more than a year).
During the army I also developed a medical analysis program for my father, and it is being sold internationally until now.
Undergraduate stuedies: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and International Relations, average 95.38.
Graduate studies: I am completing a Master's degree in computer science, and I expect the average to be 93+.
Additional work experience: I have been working in Intel as a software developer (non-managerial role). The first 1.5 years was about 50% job, and for a year now I have been working about 80%. I expect to remain in this job and in this work level at least until the end of the year.
I made an initial screening for MBA schools in which I'm interested, and I'm down to the following 10: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Yale, Cornell (TMO), Carnegie-Mellon, Kellogg, University of Chicago, MIT. I intend to apply to 4 or 5 of them.
My questions are:
1) Out of this list, where would you recommend that I apply (taking into account the chances to get accepted)?
2) Adding the assumption that I was looking for schools that are strong in information technology, where would you recommend that I apply?
3) I realize that I have a weakness in community service, even if I start now. Could the program I developed for the army be considered such a service (more than a year, no reimbursement, extra hours)? Is community service during high-school considered "valid"?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
