Hi Sima,
This gotta be one of thoughest questions I ever saw.
It took me a while to understand what they mean when they say "up side down".
Take a piece of paper and write the number 619 on it.
Now take the paper and TWIST it 180 degrees without lifting it from the table.
As you see, you still get the number 619.
You can use 1,6,8 and 9 as the digits on both ends of the number.
And you can use 1,8 and 0 as the digits in the middle of the number.
Giving a total of 12 different numbers.
You can not use 0 as the digit in the ends because it will not result in a 3-digits number (010 is a 2-digits number).
You can not put 6 or 9 in the middle because it will not result in the same number.
To sum it up, the numbers are: 619, 689, 609, 916, 986, 906, 111, 181, 101, 818, 888 and 808.
And the answer is 12.
Best of luck in the exam,
Yuval
