    Hi Gilam,

Thank you for all the information so far – I must say that this forum is extremely helpful and important.

I’m considering applying for universities both in Europe and the US and wondering what is really the difference between studying in each continent. Is it only about where I prefer to work after I graduate or are there more elements to the equation (Salary, Higher chances for recruitment, etc…)?

I’m currently in the telecommunication industry (sales) and would like to make the transition to Finance. Should this be part of my consideration of studying in Europe or the US?

In addition, some of the programs in Europe offer a 1 year MBA program while other offer 2 years. Obviously a 1 year program has the big advantage of “loosing” less time off work and as a result cost much less. Still, my own impression is that the two years program is somewhat more extensive and provides the students with better tools in future positions and as a result is viewed better by high profile recruiters.

My personal inclination is studying and living in Europe (closure to home and family, better cultural fit, and maybe coming back to Israel in the future) but my impression is that I will have more options for success in the US.

Is this impression justified or completely false?

Thanks again for this wonderful forum.

    Hi Gilam and epony,

Thank you very much for your advice and help. I will definitely retake the GMAT. Actually I'm already studying very hard towards it and hopefully will be able to retake the exam around the end of August.

One extra question if I may – it seems that even with a much better GMAT score, assuming higher than 700 (which I believe I can do) I'm still a stretch candidate for Wharton and HBS.

What are these schools expectations and what should I improve in order to improve my chances of admission? Should a certain minimum GMAT score do the trick?

    Thanks

    Noam

שלום לכולם! הצטרפתי לפורום לאחרונה והבנתי שצריך לספר קצת על עצמי, אז קודם כל כמה דברים כלליים:
    Hi Gilam,

My name is Noam, male, 29, married and about to have my first born in September. .

    .

In addition I'm a graduate of Business School in College of Management in Rishon. I won a full scholarship from the dean based

I’m working in sales in Asia Pacific for a $2B NASDAQ High-Tech Company with very frequent travel and meetings with the biggest cellular service providers all across APAC.

I'm in the company for 5 years, of which 3 in Software Development position of the company's leading product and 2 years in the current position. My position requires matrix management of Marketing, Sales, and Delivery teams, Managing Complex RFPs processes, and frequent presentations and meetings with customers. During the last two years I managed to secure several deals involving several millions of dollars.

Before joining this company I independently founded and owned a software development company for Internet Applications and taught Computers in one of the computer colleges in Israel.

I'm a graduate of Business School in College of Management in Rishon. I won a full scholarship from the dean based on high Psychometric score (746). Degree average is 93.

As part of my degree I volunteered for 1 year in “Young Entrepreneurs Israel” and led a class of 20 children to build and operate a business.

My GMAT is 660. (M: 48, V:33) and I'm thinking whether I should redo the test and improve my grade or it is sufficient (Based on the asumption that my resume is strong enough)

In the army I was in combat Intelligence, I finished top of my class in basic unit training, and led two teams (10 People) as a Sergeant in a strategic and sensitive position.

I am thinking of applying for Harvard, Wharton, MIT, INSEAD, IMD, and London Business School. I’m interested in moving into the finance world

אודה למי מהחברים הותיקים שיוכל ללחוץ reply ולענות לי:

At the moment I hope to learn as much as possible from other members experience and hope to contribute from my future experience when applicable

    Good luck to all,

    Noam

My question is whether I should invest my time in improving my GMAT score, making a stronger application, or both to ensure first hit. Time is limited since I would like to apply for September 2008.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Noam.
