Dear Gilam,
I’m evaluating my chances to be admitted to a top-10 business school and intend to use your services. I plan to enroll to the September 2009 class and specialize in finance.
I currently hold an intern position at PWC (Israel) in the audit & assurance division. As part of my duties, I audit companies in the Tel-Aviv 25 index that are also traded in the NYSE. I reckon that by the time I will submit my application, I will be a certified public accountant with 2.5 years experience in the firm and manage a team of 3-4 interns.
I graduated from the Hebrew University with a 93 GPA (Cum Laude) in economics and accounting. I entered the dean’s list in all 3 years of studies and received 4 merit based scholarships.
In addition to my position at PWC, I’m also a teaching assistant at the Hebrew U business school, in the “cost accounting” course (accounting department) and in the “topics in taxation” course, which is a course in the MBA program syllabus.
I served in the I.D.F. as a division sergeant in a combat field unit and commanded 10 soldiers. As part of my assignments, I guided new commanders who joined the platoon and took a major role in shaping the training program of the battalion.
I have yet to take the GMAT exam, but in my psychometric exam I received 725.
Throughout my 3 years of studies, I worked as an assistant to the CFO of a medium sized industrial company. One of my duties was to assist setting of the marketing strategy of the company.
I believe that I will be able to receive decent recommendations from the professors I work with (most of whom received their PhD from Ivy league business schools in the US), from my direct commanders in the military and from my managers at my current and former workplaces.
I would like to have your opinion regarding my chances to be admitted to one of the top-10 business schools, with emphasis on London Business School, Stanford, Columbia, Michigan and Wharton.
