I'm interested to hear what opinions on MIT's quant-focused teaching methodology in regards to its practicality post-MBA. Does this type of methodology ultimately benefit its MBA candidates in the industry, or is much of it academic/theoretical and not as relevant in the industry?

Hi,

Does the 3 year limitation for the achievement essays (i.e. achievements must have occured in the past 3 years) have any exceptions? I founded a startup 4 years ago (VC-backed) and it is VERY relevant to my future career goals. It would be extremely unfortunate if I couldn't include it in my achievement essay (even if I can find a way to mention it in a different essay, I won't be able to focus on the event as much as I'd like). It will have been exactly 3 years in october since the startup was closed. does this mean I can only mention events from the second half o fthe startup (within the 3 yr period) or can I go a little over the 3 year limit (and, say, talk about raising VC funding, over 3 years ago).

Hi,

I was wondering how common/accetable it is for students at GSB to work in the entrepreneurial world (e.g. found/join an early-stage startup)in parallel to their studies. Considering Stanford's location and entrepreneurial spirit, I assume it is not unlikely that entrepreneurial opportunities in the industry present themselves while in the program.

I would like to research the available tuition assistance opportunities HBS offers (and financial assistance programs that work with HBS students). Since I have duel citizenship, I'd be interesting to learn about assistance programs targeted not only towards Israelis, but also Americans as well. I'd appreciate any relevant references.

Hi. I grew up in Palo Alto, California and moved to Israeli 2 yrs ago. I graduated with a B.Sin Computer Science at Stanford University. and afterwards co-founded a VC-backed startup. Today I work in Israel at a startup in kfar saba – Pudding Media. I live in tel aviv and am 25. I hope to study at a top 10 MBA program in the states ~sept 2011.
