Once again, it has been my pleasure. Thank you, and all the best to you all.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #898This has been an excellent chat! Thank you all, and most especially, thank YOU Gil for making it happen. I wish you all the very best, and hope to see you in Tel Aviv in November.

Quite good actually. We offer work at the university to spouses of our students, and if the partner has a green card, there are other opportunities in Hyde Park and downtown Chicago.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #896In reply to Tinbi from September 19 2003
That would be fine. We admit from all three of our deadlines. You can apply for any of them, when you believe your application is ready. It is entirely up to you.

No, they are not hindered in the evaluation process. In fact, over half our incoming class are considering career changes. This is expected by the admissions committee, and also by our corporate recruiters.

No. Interviews are weighted equally in the evaluation process, whether conducted on or off campus. The important thing, from our standpoint, is that we get to meet you.

Yes – we ask that you log on to our home page (gsb.uchicago.edu), and click on the link entitled "Admissions Events" – scroll down to the November 5th reception in Tel Aviv, and click on it – the next screen will have an rsvp option. I hope you can join us – and please feel free to invite others.

Yes, many of our international students stay in the U.S. after graduation – interestingly enough, many of our U.S. citizens go abroad. Most do so for three to five years, and then return to their home country. But some stay longer.

I am very glad you asked about this. It is my belief that some of the "press" we've gotten about safety here in Hyde Park is a bit exaggerated. Chicago is made up of 26 districts. Of these, Hyde Park is #6 in safety. We have a beautiful and very well protected campus. Many of our students – both from the U.S. and abroad, are very amazed when they walk on campus, and find it to be so beautiful and safe. . .That is not to say that one doesn't need to be careful – after all, Chicago is a big city, and unfortunately, there is crime. . .I am very glad to hear that you are planning to visit us.

Where did the time go? This has been GREAT!! Maybe we can do it again – I'm more than willing!!
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #884Actually, we have three financial aid options for international students:
1. Scholarships – awarded on a merit basis to about 25% of each incoming class
2. Loan option #1 – requires a co-signer who is a U.S. citizen/permanent resident – allows the student to borrow up to the total cost of the program for both years
3. Loan option #2 – does not require a co-signer – allows the student to borrow up to the total cost of tuition for both years

I would agree with Ms. Morton that it may be a bit more time consuming in finding employment, but it is not impossibe by any means. Our students and graduates ARE getting positions, although they may have to work alittle harder at it right now. . .And we have one of the best Career Services offices in the world to help them.

I am not surprised that you asked about this. Actually, as we receive several thousand applications each year, we want to try and get to know those who are applying is ways that go beyond GPAs and GMATs. So we try to ask a few "creative" essay questions. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. We just want you to give an honest answer – whatever you believe you would really do if given this opportunity.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #877We eavluate GPA in a couple of ways:
Overall GPA, and GPA in the applicant's major;
Did the GPA increase/decrease during the undergraduate experience?
What types of courses did the applicant take – honors courses?
We are not partial to a particular major.

Our reception will be on Wednesday, November 5th, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Carlton Tel Aviv, 10 Eliezer Peri St. I hope you can join us.

We ask that you request an interview before applying – specific dates on this can be found in our application materials. . .Unfortunately, I will not be conducting interviews while visiting in Israel, but we do have alumni who help us with this, and do an excellent job. You can either interview with an alum, or you are most welcome on our campus.
To that end, we are hosting a special campus visit program here on October 17 and 18, called Fall Preview. Information on this is on our home page, under the link entitled "Admissions Events" – that link also has information about our reception in Tel Aviv.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #871In reply to eshinar from September 19 2003
Yes, we do offer a Master's in Finance. I believe that program is also for two years.

By all means – I am happy to do so.
I have a Ph.D. in higher education administration, and have been working in the field of enrollment management – admissions, financial aid, student affairs – for 23 years now.
I love what I do!!
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #866If I may, I wanted to let you know that we are coming to Israel in November for an admissions reception. I will be hosting this event, and I hope all of you will be able to join us.

We did very well this year, as has been our history. . .
97% of our first year students had summer internships
90% of our graduates are already place in full-time positions, and that percentage is expected to rise to almost 100% by the end of this calendar year
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #862In reply to eshinar from September 19 2003
Yes, it most certainly is. And we enroll many students each year who have had a background in the military.

Another good questions – actually you are all asking very good ones!
We actually have 13 concentrations at the GSB, including International Business, Marketing, Entrepreurship, Strategy, Accounting, General Management, and much more.
These concentrations are equally strong, but have not had all of the press that has been associated with our Finance and Economics programs.
We offer a "full menu" of course/program options for our students – something that for many is very pleasant surprise
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #859In reply to Tinbi from September 19 2003
I am very glad you asked this question. Israeli applicants are evaluated against all applicants, not just others from Israel.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #857In reply to GTW from September 19 2003
We enrolled 26% of our incoming class from abroad, representing 45 countries. As for evaluating international applicants versus those from the U.S., our evaluation is equal for all applicants.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #855The average number of years' work experience for our incoming students this year was 4.5, and the range was two years up to about fifteen. . .professional development is considered equally with academic achievement and personal qualities – we do not rank order these three. Rather, we are looking for applicants who display all three.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #853Yes, we do tend to give equal weight to both parts of the score. However, in the case of international student applicants, whose first language may not be English, we also give qutie a bit of weight to the results of the TOEFL.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #851The fact of having an MBA already is not a hindrance. We would only ask that you let the admissions committee know why you are seeking a second MBA degree. We have admitted individuals with a prior MBA just about every year.
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #850Yes and no.
We do not have cut-offs or quotas for our applicants.
However, we do evaulate all of our applicants in three areas:
1. academic accomplishment
2. professional development
3. personal qualities
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #849First, we were obviously happy to learn of our recent review in Business Week. As for what differentiates the GSB, I believe it is a combination of the following three things:
An outstanding and very unique program;
Incredible students
Amazing faculty
בתגובה ל: Chicago MBA Chat #846Yes, Gil, I am here! Sorry about that!
בתגובה ל: ארכיון 1: ???Any Israeli Applicants #842Good Mornig/Afternoon Gil!! Just tried calling you – I'm here and ready to roll!! Don
