    Hi

I'm not Oded (yet) but i'll try to answer with my limited knowledge of the 1Y program…

I don't think there is anything problematic with the 1Y, but the target audience is a little different. the 1Y students usually have a stronger business background. they start a little early (June I think) and cover some stuff then join the second years when school starts.

one difference that you might want to consider (in most 1Y programs) is that 1Y don't do internships and recruit directly to full time (which may be overwhelming for some people). I know some of the 1Y's are sponsered so they don't really worry about recruiting but I don't know if its more or less than the 2Y program.

we currently have 2 Israelis in the 1Y program. I'm not sure if they are on this forum but if you send me an email, I'll forward it to them

    Hi Daniel,

we'll be happy to host you here.

not sure if any of the 2nd years will be around (I think they are still on vacation) and I'm not sure what the first years will be doing (haven't started yet…) but i'm sure we'll be able to make it work.

check Kellogg's website and see if they have any organized tours at that time, that should give you a good start and we'll take care of the rest…

let us know when you have your final plans.

And one that we tried to push to Booth but he didn't get the hint and stayed with us.. :-)

anyway, on a serious note, I think most who get in HBS/GSB (and maybe Wharton) end up there. The other "top schoold" ,i.e Kellogg, Booth, MIT and a little less, Tuck and Haas, get a lot of people who have to chose between a few great programs.

then you consider, how the school "feels" (which is totally subjective), where you want to live, and if you're lucky, any $$ you got.

I considered a LOT of things when I had to chose where to go and I have to tell you that yield wasn't one of them. It is, however, a valid data point too.

I suggest you focus on getting in first and then (with hard work and some luck) you'll have several great schools to pick from. I haven't started yet but i'm pretty sure all of the above will give you more than enough opportunities, the rest (and the majority, in my view) is up to you, not the school you end up in.

    Ori

    P.S

Gil, skipping our beer night tonight is a violation of the Kellogg honor code… :-)

ok, so right before the game is over, here is the score for me…

    negative from

    MIT- really wanted to there…

    Stanford – suddenly I feel old…

    Positive

Tuck – Awsome school and people, should be a once in a life time experience to live up there with the polar bears

Kellogg – Probably the most prestigious of my options, brand and opportunities play a role

Berkeley – came off the WL. Tech orientation and location add to its appeal

Duke – great location (brother lived there). declined their offer yesterday (hopefully someone here who is WLed will get in)

still WL at Chicago, so I won't consider it as an option yet.

now i'm left with the good (but very hard) problem of picking one (why won't they allow polygamy of schools?) and figure out how to pay for it all…

    Hi

From what I understood, that's up to the school's financial aid office.

the selective service can only say if you're registered or not. the lady spoke with said she will send me a letter but it won't say much.

I am still in the process so, like you, I would be happy to get some input from those already in school (and yes Guy, I will call you soon…:-) )

you can ask for this letter on the phone (it took me 20 tries and over an hour of waiting on the line before i got to speak with someone).

when you call, don't press any numbers and wait for someone human to answer.

they said they will send me (in 6-8 weeks) a status letter stating that I didnt register and that's it. I understood that the big issue is the financial aid office of the school. so once you know where youre going, its up to them to decide whether you didn't register for a good reason or not.

I'm working on a letter at the moment, so any insights from those who've done it will be appreciated…

    Hi

did you manage to register after the age of 26?

I called them and they said the only thing they can do is send me a status letter saying i'm not registered and that I should take it up with the financial aid office of the school.

    thanks
