Hey guys, I received a merit-based scholarship at Darden. Apparently there's something called the "Dean’s Scholarship for Europe". I didn't do anything special for it (other than telling them I have other options) and it's for half the tuition – about $17K a year.
I'm not going to Darden so maybe one of you guys has a chance of getting it…

All,

I just joined this forum today, wanted to update that I was accepted to MIT (a dual master's program in MBA + Engineering), with a full scholarship for 100% tuition. My under graduate is in Industrial Engineering.

I am definitly going – school starts June'04 (summer semester).

My husband was also accepted to Babson College (near Boston) to thier MBA program, with a full scholarship of $30K per year (total $60K) – his under graduate is in Medicine.

Hey Mor, I wrote Larry Mueller an email asking him some question and then I just "happened" to mention I have other options plus scholarships (I was being specific about it). Larry responded immediately and was very helpful. My guess is he took it into consideration when the scholarship meetings took place.

Am just curious what your stats were.. if u want u can send to [email protected]. I settled in the end for something less fancy, it just happened I've been offered tuition waiver to GISMA in Hannover, a 1 year Purdue program. It happened pretty fast, I was thinking of waiting for next year's round of admissions, and then this thing kept rolling: it's a short program, less expenses etc, starts right now (August) – so there are advantages to offset the lower brand-value (but MIT would've been my first choice. dunno if being dinged had to do with my age, am 36,guess that pretty much puts me at the extremities of every BSchool Gauss distribution)

ההבדלים בריבית בין שתי המדינות מתקזזים בעקבות שערי חליפין דולר/שקל. למשל, אפילו שבארה"ב תשלם נניח 4% (על הלוואה דולרית) ובישראל 10% (על הלוואה שקלית), כח הקניה של הסכום שלווית (ושל הריבית שתשלם) יהיה זהה. אם לדוגמה הריבית בארה"ב תעלה, שער הדולר ירד, ושוב יווצר אותו איזון.

אם תיקח הלוואה דולרית בארץ, הריבית עליה תחושב לפי בסיס ליבור ולא לפי ריבית בנק ישראל. לקיחת הלוואה בארץ עשויה להיות כדאית אם מצב האשראי האישי שלך מאפשר לך לשלם ריבית נמוכה יותר מההלוואה הסטנדרטית של האוניברסיטה (וזה יכול מאוד להיות). עם זאת, בארץ תהיה חייב לספק ערבים, וככל הנראה תצטרך להתחיל לשלם מיד, ולא רק אחרי הלימודים. נקודה נוספת: גם אם לוקחים הלוואה דולרית בארץ, בפועל אתה מקבל ומחזיר שקלים (כלומר בכל אינטראקציה הבנק ממיר לך שקלים לדולרים או להיפך בהתאם לשער הגבוה שלו (או הנמוך כשאתה מחזיר), וזה יכול לייקר מעט את ההלוואה. כדאי לכלול את זה בחישוב.
