גלעם, איך להערכתך התחרות לישראלים להתקבל לטאק? האם זה יותר או פחות קשה מאשר בתי ספר כמו קורנל/דיוק או מישיגן? הבנתי שהם לוקחים רק ישראלי אחד בשנה אבל אני לא יודע אם זה בגלל שלא מספיק אנשים נרשמים או בגלל שמאד קשה להתקבל.

טאק בי"ס מעולה. להערכתי טאק קצת קשה יותר מקורנל ודומה לדיוק ומישיגן מבחינת הקושי להתקבל. להבדיל משני האחרונים, להערכתי טאק שם דגש חזק יותר על ציונים ועל רקע/עתיד ניהולי/מנהיגותי. האפליקיישן של טאק קשה ומתוחכם יחסית. אני חושב שאחד החבר'ה שלנו ישמח לדבר איתך בנושא אם תצטרך, הוא התקבל לשם לפני מס' ימים עם מילגה.

בקשר לדיוק, שמתי לב שהסיבוב השני שלהם הסתיים חודש לפני שאר האוניברסיטאות (8 בדצמבר) אבל יש להם 4 סיבובים. האם זה אומר שהסיכוי להתקבל בסיבוב השלישי הוא ריאלי? (אני יודע שבמקומות אחרים זה כמעט בלתי אפשרי)

About 20 Israelis applied to Stanford round 1.

4 got an interview. No answers yet.

Eli, I haven't seen such research for Israel. I do know that Israeli employers appreciate work experience abroad that is closely relevant to their business. In that regard, if you leverage your MBA to get such a position abroad after the MBA, you will be attractive to Israeli employers. In general, the more you work abroad, the more likely you are to come to Israel from a strong starting point, and sometimes from "above" – from the partent companies/owners who are located aborad. Alternatively, in some industries (e.g. strategy consulting, venture capital) you may be able to get to a strong starting point in Israel right after your MBA, a starting point that is more rarely open to "local" MBA's.

2. How US MBA schools considering intentions to get back to Israel after the graduation ? Is it considered as an advantage or a drawback from schools perspective ?

My impression is that the schools are more interested in your actual plan than in the geography from which you plan to achieve it.

3. Last one. Personal. How comes you 've been accepted to the best MBA schools right after your undegraduate studies ? What made you so attractive to those schools ? (GMAT, BA grades, recommendation from Frenkel :) ?)

Thank you for the compliment. I believe that In my case, it was a combination of two factors: 1. Effective essays (worked for me, so I made it a profession…). 2. Some interesting leadership-oriented achievements such as being elected to student union positions.

Eldad, as far as I know, yes, it is a "legitimate" and reasonable round at Berkeley, and the fourth round (March) is the "problematic" one.

As Sharon correctly pointed out, you will be considered with the January pool if seats are full for the September pool. However, seats are likely to be tight in the last round and therefore, if you need time to prepare a quality application, you may want to take the time and apply in the first round for January (apply in the spring).

Yale asks all international students to fill a financial statement. I have a few questions about that:

1. I am an American citizen, however, I am not a resident, I suppose I have to fill that statement, or am I wrong?

2. I wonder how they use the statement – on the one hand they obviously want to see that I can pay my tuition and other expences. But in the other hand, could it influence my financial aid? in other words – is it good to have a lot of money or little money for this statement?

Eldad, it's best to ask the admission office directly (in an email or phone call) on this specific matter, I can't tell you for sure.

Eldad, on one hand they want to see that you will be able to finance your studies. If you will not be able to, and will not get financial aid, it may become a concern. On the other hand, they want to see if you need financial aid so they may consider you for need-based financial aid. All in all, I recommend to you to tell the truth. Not telling it may incur results that you are unable to predict at the moment. I do recommend to provide a conservative estimate, i.e. talk about funds you surely have, and not be too optimistic with you financial sources/plans.

אני מכיר חמישה שפנו (עזרנו להם), שלושה מהם התקבלו. בנוסף פנו עוד כ-15 ישראלים. סה"כ התקבלו ארבעה ישראלים עד כה השנה.

יש ישראלים גם ברשימת ההמתנה – אני אישית מכיר אחד (מהחמישה שהזכרתי).

הכל מתייחס לסיבוב הראשון, הסיבוב השני ייסגר בשבוע הבא.

לגבי הסיבוב השלישי – לאחר שנדע את תוצאות הסיבוב השני (במרץ) נוכל להעריך טוב יותר את המצב – עם זאת סביר להניח שבדומה לשנים הקודמות, הסיבוב השלישי יהיה קשה.

Yes, you can count it as work experience.

I have recently applied to NYU and awaiting their decesion.

I graduated with honors (Dean's list + honor society + Amercian's National Dean's list) from a university in NY.

My answer is simple: the only major problem I see is the fact that my GMAT score was very disappointing (a little below 600). Other than that, I have 3 excellent recommendations: 2 from employers and one from a professor). What do you think are my chances to be accepted? how major is the GMAT factor, and how much can it hurt my chances?
