I graduated with honors (Dean's list + honor society + Amercian's National Dean's list) from a university in NY.

My answer is simple (that would be your question, I assume ;-): the only major problem I see is the fact that my GMAT score was very disappointing (a little below 600). Other than that, I have 3 excellent recommendations: 2 from employers and one from a professor). What do you think are my chances to be accepted? how major is the GMAT factor, and how much can it hurt my chances?

On the basis of this data alone (not knowing your employment background etc.), I think that NYU will be a real stretch for you. They may accept someone with a GMAT below 600, but these will be fairly rare cases. Hopefully you will be one of them…

Unless otherwise instructed, you will usually be just great with "business casual" – khaki pants, button-down shirt (blue is usually good), black (modern) shoes, black socks. Shaved. For guys – to go on the safe side, short hair and no earrings.

To be on the safe side, I would skip the tie part in Israel, unless otherwise requested.

Good school, usually ranked 20-30 in the US, strong name among local employers in St. Louis (Einhouser-Busch, Monsanto, McDonald Douglas and even… Admocs), nice campus in ceter city in one of the best US cities for families, quite a few Israeli professors. In terms of business disciplines, they are considered pretty good across the board, not a particular focus that I know about. You may have the option of starting to work part time with a local employer, which is pretty neat.

Their third deadline out of four is on March 5, it is a good opportunity for Israelis who want to apply to another school.

I was a reapplicant only at Harvard, but i did not get in again for the other schools it was my first time.

Since last year i re-did the GMAT (680 to 760), moved to the US and got a great job here.

My application was also better. I took enough time to think about it and to prepare it.

As correctly noted by Yaron, MIT does not have a third round. With Stanford, it will probably be harder than in rounds 1 and 2, potentially much harder but not impossible for very strong candidates.

If I remember correctly, it is something like: 30% of the applicants get an interview, about 40-50% of the interviewees are accepted.

And if I may add – how many from the R1 Israeli apps who were interviewed were accepted?

That I am not sure about. My guess would be: at least 50%.

Last one – how important is the interview in the app. process for W? (can you quantify it as % of the total application?)

The interview is another element in the evaluation of a candidate. Its weight may change based on the evaluation content. Extreme evaluations may get more weight than moderate ones. Candidates who are invited for an interview are already considered strong. The interview may verify, strengthen or weaken that impression. If it strengthens that impression, the candidate is likely to be accepted. If it weakns, the candidate is likely to be rejected. There is no set weight that determines the importance of the interview – this is more an art than a science, and the evaluation's content has a lot to do with the weight.
