הייתי מעט זמן יחסית, נכנסתי להרצאות של MIT, וורטון ושיקגו.

הגעתי למסקנה שבאמת הכנסים הללו מיועדים לאנשים הנמצאים בתחילת הדרך. ההרצאות מאוד כלליות וכמו שנאמר פעם "כולן יפות, כולן חכמות…" – אם לא היו מזכירים את השם של כל אוניברסיטה היה מאוד קשה להבדיל ביניהן על פי ההרצאות. אני באמת מאמינה שבכל תכנית כזו יש אנשים מדהימים, שיכולים ללמד אותך המון, תכניות מעניינות ובהרבה תחומים, חוויה שאין לתאר, עזרה במציאת עבודה ועוד כל מיני דברים שנאמרו אבל היה קשה להתרשם באמת מה מייחד כל תכנית אבל באמת!, ואת זה נראה לי שקשה להוציא מכנסים כאלה (גם אחרי שמדברים עם סטודנטים שלומדים שם)

נ.ב- נתון מעודד במיוחד לאלו הפונים לוורטון סיבוב שני- הבחור שהרצה אמר שלמרות שהתקבלו 11 אנשים (כל הכבוד!!!) בסיבוב הראשון, הוא בטוח (הוא אמר שאפשר לתפוס אותו במילה) שיתקבלו נוספים בסיבוב השני. הוא אמר שיש התענינות גדולה בסטודנטים מישראל והוא בטוח שיתקבלו נוספים (וכן צופה צמיחה בשנים הקרובות)

אני חייב להגיב שדווקא הנתון לגבי כמות המתקבלים החריגה בסיבוב ה-1 לוורטון הוא נתון בכלל לא מעודד לגבי מועמדי הסיבוב השני. לדעתי זה פוגע מאוד בסיכוי כישראלי להתקבל כעת לוורטון בסיבוב השני.

אבל מזל טוב לכל 11 המאושרים, וגם לכל אלה שיגשו בשנה הבאה, מבחינתם הסיכויים בהחלט השתפרו.

ובהצלחה גם לכל מועמדי R2… (אם כי אני לא אופטימי)

מי ששוחח עם אסף ועם חבריו לוורטון יכול היה לשמוע אותם מודים בבירור כי אמנם יתקבלו ישראלים גם בסיבוב השני אך הסיכויים (כך נדמה) ירדו פלאים.

הם, כנראה, לא מתכוונים לקבל כמות של ישראלים בסיבוב השני אשר תתקרב לכמות שהתקבלו בסיבוב הראשון.מחצית הכמות נשמעת סבירה לחלק מהם.

אז הסיכויים ירדו, פחות ישראלים אבל תמיד יש סיכוי..

ראשית כל אני חושב שבכל כנס אפשר ללמוד משהו, גם אם הוא נושא אופי מקדמי, מעבר לכך אני בטוח שההיכרות עם האנשים מבתי הספר השונים שכבר לומדים בוודאי תרמה גם היא.

בנוגע לבתי הספר ומה שמייחד אותם, ישנם הרבה מאוד גורמים מאבחנים בין בתי הספר, אני מניח שאת מודעת לחלקם והם אלו שבסופם גורמים לך להשקיע ולהגיש מועמדות רק לרשימה מצומצמת.

מעט דוגמאות לגורמים כאלו: דירוג, קמפוס בעיר גדולה, התמחויות של הבית ספר, התעשיות שמגייסות בבתי הספר, גודל וחוזק אירגון הבוגרים, אחוז הסטודנטים הבינ"ל, כמות המלגות שמוענקות וכו'.

מה שאני מנסה להסביר הוא שקשה לסטודנט שלומד בבית ספר לבנות לך תמונה של בית הספר, את צריכה להגדיר מה חשוב לך ובהתאם להחליט לאן להגיש.

בכל מקרה, אם יש לך שאלות לגבי שיקגו, החברה' של הבית ספר ובינהם אני מבקרים כאן לעיתים תכופות ונשמח לענות.

לגבי וורטון- אסף וחבריו לא אמרו בשום שלב שהם מאמינים שיתקבל אותו מספר של אנשים גם ב R2, אבל אם ההנחה הרווחת היא פסימיות בעקבות קבלת 11 ישראלים בסיבוב הראשון (מספיר מדהים לכל הדעות) וההנחה שלא יתקבלו כלל אנשים בסיבוב השני (עקב "מכסה" כלשהי), הרי שהם באו דוקא לעודד ולומר שיתקבלו אנשים נוספים בR2 וביקשו מאלו שפונים ב R2 לא להתייאש ולהגיש, כילהערכתם (המבוססת, כך לפחות אני התרשמתי) יתקבלו אנשים נוספים

ולגבי איכות הכנסים: בודאי שניתן להפיק מידע (והרבה) מכנסים כאלה, וגם אני ב2 הכנסים הקודמים בהם השתתפתי הפקתי המון מידע כללי שיתכן ואחרים כבר ידעו אותו.

מה שבעצם אותי עניין בכנס הזה, אחרי שכבר קיבלתי את המידע הכללי (מיקום ג"ג, דרוג,מציאת עבודה עתידית, חיים חברתיים מחוץ לשעות הלימודים, התמחות וכד- מה שבעיקר התרכזו בו בהרצאת בהן הייתי) הוא (וזה גם מה ששאלתי את הסטודנטים איתם דיברתי)- מה ניתן ללמוד על התכנית, שלא כתוב בשום עלון, או ספר, או אתר, כלומר לנסות לקבל תמונה, מנקודת מבט של סטודנט שלומד שם מה לדעתו הערך המוסף הייחודי של התכנית שלו.

בכל מקרה, תודה על ההתייחסות- ואני מאוד אשמח לדבר איתך ועם שאר החברה של שיקגו, כי שיקגו היא בהחלט ברשימה המצומצמת שלי.

GMAT לא עשיתי עדיין, כל הנושא עוד ממש בחיתולים.

בשלב זה אני רק מתעניינת באפשרות של MBA בחו"ל, מה אפשרויות התעסוקה אחר כך, האם זה כדאי, איפה המקומות הכי "שווים" ללמוד, ומה תנאי הקבלה בהם.

הי, אני סטודנטית למשפטים שנה ד'. התחלתי חפיפה להתמחות שמתחילה בעוד כחודש, באחד המשרדים המובילים בתחום הקניין הרוחני. אני בת 24, ומפאת גילי הצעיר ברצוני להמשיך ללמוד כל עוד אני צעירה וחדורת מוטיבציה. שנה שעברה התנדבתי שנה שלמה בביהמ"ש לענייני משפחה בר"ג, בו עזרתי לאנשים עם אלימות במשפחה, לקבל סעדים מיידים כגון: צו הגנה. בהיותי סטודנטית שנה ב' התנדבתי לפרויקט "סטודנטים למען הקהילה", בו חנכתי לתלמידי תיכון משכונות מצוקה, שנה לאחר מכן ניהלתי את הפרויקט.בו זמנית ניהלתי מסעדה יוקרתית בת"א.

Dear All,

I attended the recent Israel MBA Forum, held at the Azrielli Congress Center in Tel Aviv, and noticed that not one of the schools represented offered an option to study for an MBA by Distance Learning. I am happy to advise you that it is now possible to obtain an MBA degree from Imperial College, a branch of the University of London, by Distance Learning in 2-5 years depending on the number of course modules studied.

Perhaps you saw my notice regarding obtaing an MBA from Imperial College, U.K. by distance learning?

Though realising that this route isn't for everyone, it is a good option for peope who want a truly quality MBA degree from a higly ranked school.

Many times people (due to their present work, family situation, etc) just can't take off 1-2 years to go abroad to study. Even MBA programmes here in Isael may not be suitable if it means having ot quit your job to study!

Dear Dan,

I am sorry if you do not take my messages in proper context. I'm only

trying to present an 'option' to those who for various reasons – including financial – cannot take off and go abroad to study. I was at the MBA Forum at Azrieli and though there were excellent foreign schools being represented, they were very expensive – especially if one includes personal living expenses while there.

If you can swing something like Harvard Business School or Wharton, Kol ha Kavod! If not, I have a solution via a top ranked school.

OK,

I catch your drift. After seeing what was being offered at the Azreilli forum, and sponsored by Kidum who were definitley out to get potential GMAT students like they used to be ( and still do) for the psychometric exams for undergraduate school, I saw nothing by advetrisement – especially by all the schools there, including the Israeli ones.

My point is simply to offer an alternative study approach. Imperial College doesn't believe in advertising on the internet or in newspapers, or on large billboards (perish the thought!) like U. of Darby and similar schools do.

We try to spread the word on a more personal basis. If I have upset of offended any one, I sincerely appologize.

Incidentally, I haven't heard of U. of Luthuania and their Arad Campus.

But you guys must surely remember the MBA programme offered by the University of Boston at Sde Boker here in Israel. It was a really good deal – while it lasted.

I replied to him. Nothing is 100% Life is full of compromises – unless you're like Bill Gates, or the guy who runs the Virgin consortium. Gates (to my knowledge) never finished his undergraduate degree (though he's been awarded numerous honerary degrees). Both he and Sir Robert Branscum (who is dislectic by the way) can buy most of the universities who were at the forum!

I'm only trying to help! I've got a daugther (who also went to the Azrieli Forum) and was really surprised to see what it costs to go to all those foreign schools.

Those of hyou who can get scholarships to cover most of the tuition, and perhaps part of the living expenses – I commend you!

Those who can't, need other options.

I realise that most of the forum members have already set their sights on a particular school, and are now trying to satisfy admittance requirements, as well as find the way to pay the costs involved. Those who choose an Israeli school, whether it Tel Aviv U., BGU (where one of my daughters now attends), Michlala ha Menhal, etc., will not doubt receive a good MBA degree.

It all depends, however, on what one is planning to do with the degree afterwards, that will determine whether a foreign school or a local one will fit the bill. Obviously, someone planning to be in a management position at Bank Discount or El Al, etc., can make do with a local MBA degree.

My purpose in presenting a distance learning programme to this forum is to give people an option with a quality educational institution when their personal/family and, other situations prevent them from going abroad to study. I refer to a quality and ranked school and not to the ones that usually advertise their programmes via the internet.

I will definitely take your suggestions to heart, and want everyone to know that whatever they decide will be their best shot. If you or any other forum member need my assitance concerning Imperial College, I will be pleased to help.

I plan to hold an informal 'mini forum' on the I.C. Distance MBA Programme at the British Council in Ramat Gan, some time in mid-to-late February or early March. Anyone interested in attending can kindly contact me and I will not only reserve a place for them at this meeting , but put an informative CD on the programme aside for them as well

I have a few general questions for anyone who has traveled abroad for their Mba with a family (I am planning to apply for fall 2006 at the time my son will be 2.5 y.o.):

Are there schools that are known to be more "family friendly" than others?

What things should I research ahead of time in order to help me reach a well informed decision regarding living in the specific community with a family?

How does having a family effect the experience?

What general advice can you offer me from your experiences?
