Yeap. THing is I am not leaving much room for error and since these (h, s, w) are tough schools to get into I thought of submitting to Duke

1. because I was really impresed with that school and would not be sorry for a second if I went there

2. safety, I admit I would rather go to H or S

3. I prefer it over Cornel which has a R2 deadline on 15/1

4.Do u think with the app # down this year, more admitw will occur on R3 at places such as Duke (darden berkeley too)?

no, I applying to h, S, and w – next week, round 3. However, because duke had the R2 in Dec. I did not make it, this is why i thought about aplying in R 3 on 1/20 – was not sure if it is worth it?

Tanks a lot for the quick reply. I am applying to hbs – because it is a great schol and because everyone I talked to said it is worth the try. Stanford – because I come form hi tech + my wife could maybe find a job there.

If I do not get in Duke would be my choice, however as I said, people here discourage everyone from applying in the 3rd round regardless of the actual date (hbs 3rd round is in March, duke's in January -) they say it makes no difference as long as it is the third round.

btw – does the ad com look at the 3rd rond people BEFORE they send out acceptance letters to the 2nd round people?

At any rate, thanks for all your input on this board, very helpful + you are doig a great service for everyone else who goes there!

btw – was it diff. findg a job + securing visa after u graduated?

צה לדעתך ההבדל הפרקטי בין דוקטורט לתואר שני במינהל עבקים

מחד, אני מעוניין ללצוד שנתיים ולקבל משרה בחברה בארה"ב, דוקא לא בבנקאות השקעות וגם לא בייעוץ למרות שלא בהכרח שולל זאת

מאידך, מנכ"ל של חברה בינונית בארץ ובעל דוקטורט מאחת מה 5 המובילות דיבר איתי, אני מכיר אותו היכרות עסקית,- ואמר לי שכבר דוחח עם ראש מחלקת הדוקטור שם ואם ארצה יש לי סיכוי טוה (ציטוט: 80%) להתקבל (הוא סיפר להם על הרקורד שלי וכולי והם התרשמו מאוד)

הבעיה שלי היא שאני אוצה ללכת לבי"ס מצויין וזו הזמנות מנגד, לא מעוניין לחקור וללמד אח"כ ואינני בטוח מהן ההזמנויות אחרי דוקטורט + אם יש לי הכוח לסיימו

בקיצור – מהם הזמנויות העבודה לאחר דוקטורט?

again about the interviews:

1. is it conducted after I submit my application OR before?

2. If that is the case then if I am willing to spend a couple of K$ on a trip, should I do it before I apply, in order to see/ feel the school , be able to say I visited school/ campus/ clsses etc. OR save it for a interview

3. Do all school s invite you for an interview and how do people from here manage to coordinate all of these in one week?

Thanks for the prompt reply to my question. Yes, I am infact seriously considering

Tuck, Wharton and Duke, as well as Michigan,Cornell and… Stanford

Although the age factor is not the #1 criteria I do put it on my list

Do you have any thoughts on recruitment for older apps and how important a role does your preMBA exmployment is, I hear that most recruiters may prefer someon with exp at Loreal ( an intl company) in a very junoir position over a more senior position in a local company.

At any rate, your participation here really brings this whole from up a notch or two. Good for you

Hi Gilam,

I was wondering if you can give me a quick assessment of my situation.

GMAT 760 GPA: 3.8 (from a us school) and 82 from tau. age: 34

work exp: about 6 years, including ceo of a ssmall software company for four years. Currently manageing a small biz unit in one of the large software houses in Israel.

changed careers about 6 ys. ago from law. (LLB from tau)

Is it worth shooting or Stanford or HBS, or should I go for more conservative choices, considering my age – such as Tuck Wharton and Michigan?

What other top10-15 schools should I consider? How about Columbia (like every other Israeli…)

Are schools more forgiving of older israelis due to the army/ other factors?

Sounds really good. question: did you have a background/ w/e in this industry prior to attending Duke and if not how did you overcome this in such a bear market. Also, is it true that duke is more acceptingof older applicants?

I hear more and more about Duke. What made you choose this school over others? Is it more for "techies"? and does it offer international students loans?

How's living in NC? are most recruiters from the south? Sorry for sking all the questions. I think I heard you in TA at the Fulbright conf. in December and I am interested in learning more about Duke>

היי, אני שוקל MBA בארה"ב. רוב הנתונים, (תעסוקה GMAT ועוד) תומכים במסקנה שיש סיכוי טוב להתקבל לאחד מב"ס הטובים. יש לי GMAT גבוהה + ניהול חברה במשך 4 שנים ועוד

הבעיה: אהיה בגיל 34, האם שה קצת מבוגר? , הן מבחינת חלק מוועדות הקבלה והן מבחינת מציאת עבודה השמה עם תום הלימודים? אני מעדיף לא EMBA
