    Hi Dalit and everyone else,

I hope all is well. I am applying to LBS by Jan 5 and I need all the help and advice I can get at this point. I'm Argentinean orginally, raised in Israel and spent the last two years in New York working for a financial services company.

My post-graduate experience is only the 2 years in NY, but I worked as a team leader through college and also co-founded a tech start-up. I have a 640 in my GMAT with a high undergrad avg. How do you estimate my chances of acceptance and what do you recommend stressing in the application?

Thanks for your help and happy hannuka!

    Dear Forum Members,

I'm applying to MIT in about a month and I'm now in process of putting the application together. I have a background in technology (both work experience and undergrad concentration in IT management) and I'd love to get your insights and hear about your unique experience at MIT. If you don't mind, I would prefer to connect directly via email.

Any tips or suggestions from applicants are welcome as well.

    Best Regards,

    Eze

    Shalom Gilam,

Thank you for the valuable information on this forum. I'm applying to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, MIT and NYU with a relatively low GMAT score- 640. I took the GMAT twice while working full time in a demanding position in New York and did not have much time to study. How would you estimate my chances of acceptance, considering that my work experience includes two years of financial services in NY and in addition service as an officer in the army (combat and non-combat roles) and part time work as a team-leader for a .com company during school?

Also, am I expected to take the TOEFL if I've been working for an English speaking country for 2 years?

    I appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks a lot,

    Eze

    Hi Gilam and everyone,

I'm seeking for advice. I graduated college in 2004 (cum laude) and worked in research in new york since then. I thought about applying for the MBA in either columbia, NYU, stanford or UCLA. I took the GMAT earlier this year, almost without studying and got a low grade. i have several questions:

    • Do you think it's possible to start an application at this point? (i didnt start any of the essays and i need to take the GMAT again)
    • Is there an option to apply with a low grade and take the test again after filling the application?
    • Do you know of other graduate degrees in these schools (not MBA) that combine technology and business?
    • What are the chances of getting accepted to a program with a low gmat ?
    • Is work during college considered as work experience?

i would appreciate your thoughts. thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Hi all,

    My name is Eze Vidra.

I am now starting my application process and would welcome any help.

I am considering Columbia, nyu, Harvard and wharton. Possibly stanford, berkely, cornell (as you can see i still didnt make up my mind…)

I'm taking the GMAT course at the moment and gathering information on the different schools. I hope to get as much information about these programs as possible (especially on Entreprenuership programs)

I currently work in a Market Research company in New York in the IT field and I hold a BA from IDC(Israel) in Business and IT (cum laude).

I'm trying to figure out how to build the "application strategy" i hear so much about. If anyone has a good tip, i'll appreciate it.

I would like to begin at fall 2006.

these are just some of the questions i'm trying to figure out:

    1) when is the best time to apply?

    2) what is the best application strategy? should i apply to 5 schools and hope for the best? should i contact alumni?

    3) how should i incorporate the army service in the essays?

Feel free to email me directly to [email protected]

    Thanks!

    Hi Gilam & Everybody,

I've been reading the forum messages lately but havent really contributed too much of my own, so here it goes.

I am thinking about doing the MBA in fall 2006 (columbia, HBS, Stanford or Else). I graduated IDC Herzliya in Business, IT and Entreprenuership (cum laude) and i'm currently working for a market research company in NYC. I also started my own company in Israel (software) and I have some questions, for the experienced ones on the forum:

1.When would be the best time to start preparing my application? do

    2. GMAT- course or not? should I try learning from the books? does the course really make a diff?

    3. What can you tell me about one year programs (top)? i feel like not working for two years is really not for me.

I'm already in the work market, so i'm not really sure if the MBA is a must…. i would appreciate your advice.
