Did you have your interview yet? If so, what was it like? If not, when and with who is it scheduled, and good luck, of course :)

    Thanks,

    Uri

I find it hard to believe that from all the people on the forum who got interviews to all sorts of schools, none are interview-worthy for MIT. I guess we just have to be a little extra patient.

I got accepted to UCLA Anderson but rejected by Columbia. If anyone has any questions regarding the interviews to these places, I'd be happy to help. Good luck to those who are still waiting. Anybody know what's going on with MIT?

    Hi,

First congrats to everyone who have been accepted and/or invited to interview and good luck to those who are still anxiously waiting.

I myself have been invited to interview for UCLA Anderson and was wondering if anyone else might have already interviewed for that program. If so, please contact me at [email protected].

    Thanks,

    Uri

    Hi Gilam,

I have a somewhat delicate question: During my years at the Technion, I retook some courses in order to improve my relatively low grades in some courses. On the official transcript, the first time I took the course does not appear at all (nor does its initial low grade). My question is whether or not I should include the first time I took the course in the transcript template the schools require to fill out. If I do include them, the schools will be seeing some low grades which technically no longer exist (no proof of them on the transcript) and have no effect on my GPA. If I don't, my transcript might look a bit odd with some introductory courses towards the end of my degree. I will also be slightly deviating from the instruction of "Please be sure to add classes that you have withdrawn from, dropped, or failed (even if repeated)."

Any idea on what would be best?

    Thank you,

    Uri

    Hi Gilam,

My name is Uri, and I've been doing a lot of reading on this site, so I figured it's about time I start writing.

    A little about myself:

I graduated from the Technion with an 85 avg. (dean's list) in Information Systems Engineering (joint program of Computer Science and Industrial Engineering)and I worked as a student at Rafael for a year and a half – I helped design and implement Info Systems. I also worked in Teva during the first degree as a technical writer in their manufacturing plant. I now work as a software engineer in a small firm in Tel-Aviv. In the army, I was a shift supervisor in Intelligence (in charge of up to 20 people per shift).

I am thinking of applying to some B-schools, so I naturally have a few questions:

What schools are considered best for people with an engineering background like myself, who wish to combine the MBA with their technological expertise? If I seek a career change (mainly toward finance), will my engineering background have any negative effect?

As you can tell, I'm a bit undecided – Should I write/tell the B-schools about the two options I'm considering (IT or finance) as my "career goals", or is it wiser to focus on one concentration in the essays, depending on the school's strength?

I have a high GMAT score (770), but will my lack of full-time post-first degree work (only a year and a half by Sep. 2005) significantly hamper my chances?

    Thank you very much,

    Uri
