I'm a first year Israeli MBA student at Darden Business School in the University of Virginia. I'd like to invite you to join me and a number of admitted students for an information session about our school. I'm also an Israeli student at Darden, currently in first year. I'd like to extend my help to those interested in our program.

A few words about the school:

I don't presume to give anyone here a finance lecture, however, assuming a natural balance between $/NIS only because one factor (interest rate) has changed is somewhat naive and even dangerous.

Each case should be calculated seperately.

בוודאי שיש לחשב כל מקרה בנפרד, אבל זה לא משנה את העובדה שפערי ריביות בין מדינות לבדם לא משנים את עלות ההלוואה בפועל.

גם אני לא רוצה לתת הרצאה במימון לאף אחד, אבל אם בארה"ב הריבית נמוכה יותר ההגיון אומר שכולם ילכו ללוות שם (לא רק מישראל, מכל העולם). במצב כזה יהיה עודף של דולרים שמסתובבים בעולם, וכשאותם לווים יחזרו למדינות שלהם ויבקשו להמיר את הדולרים למטבע מקומי עודף ההיצע יחליש את הדולר. נכון שלא יהיה קיזוז מושלם כי ישנם גורמים אחרים כמו סיכונים בטחוניים באיזורים מסויימים וכו', אבל שוב, גם אם בישראל תהיה ריבית 20% ובארה"ב 0.5% זה לא אומר אוטומטית ששם כדאי יותר ללוות ולהיפך. זה כל מה שאמרתי.

קשה לי להאמין שבנקים בארץ יוכלו לתת תנאים טובים יותר מאשר בארה"ב בעיקר בגלל הפרשי הריביות (אני לא איש מימון אבל זה נראה לי הגיוני), אבל אם כן – אני אשמח לשמוע.

ההבדלים בריבית בין שתי המדינות מתקזזים בעקבות שערי חליפין דולר/שקל. למשל, אפילו שבארה"ב תשלם נניח 4% (על הלוואה דולרית) ובישראל 10% (על הלוואה שקלית), כח הקניה של הסכום שלווית (ושל הריבית שתשלם) יהיה זהה. אם לדוגמה הריבית בארה"ב תעלה, שער הדולר ירד, ושוב יווצר אותו איזון.

אם תיקח הלוואה דולרית בארץ, הריבית עליה תחושב לפי בסיס ליבור ולא לפי ריבית בנק ישראל. לקיחת הלוואה בארץ עשויה להיות כדאית אם מצב האשראי האישי שלך מאפשר לך לשלם ריבית נמוכה יותר מההלוואה הסטנדרטית של האוניברסיטה (וזה יכול מאוד להיות). עם זאת, בארץ תהיה חייב לספק ערבים, וככל הנראה תצטרך להתחיל לשלם מיד, ולא רק אחרי הלימודים. נקודה נוספת: גם אם לוקחים הלוואה דולרית בארץ, בפועל אתה מקבל ומחזיר שקלים (כלומר בכל אינטראקציה הבנק ממיר לך שקלים לדולרים או להיפך בהתאם לשער הגבוה שלו (או הנמוך כשאתה מחזיר), וזה יכול לייקר מעט את ההלוואה. כדאי לכלול את זה בחישוב.

העניין שלי ב-MBA התחיל בין השאר בעקבות ה-Case Method.

לדעתי יש לה כמה יתרונות בולטים במיוחד: קודם כל, הסטודנט חייב להיות מעורב ולכן בסוף הלימודים זוכרים הרבה יותר מאשר כל מיני מודלים עמומים שמקבלים בהרצאה, ושעשויים לשכוח יום אחרי הבחינה. שנית, מדובר במקרים אמיתיים של חברות אמיתיות, כך שגם אם הגעת מתחום ומרקע ספציפיים מאוד, אחרי שנתיים תהיה לך היכרות עם טווח עצום של תעשיות, תחומים ודילמות ניהוליות, לפעמים עד לפרטים הקטנים ביותר. שלישית, עצם העובדה שצריך לדבר כל יום בכיתה, ולהעביר את הניתוח או העמדה שלך בצורה תמציתית ומשכנעת משפרת גם את יכולות הפרזנצטיה ודיבור בפני קהל, וגם את כושר השכנוע בעתיד מול מנהלים/משקיעים/לקוחות וכד'.

אני לא חושב שזו שיטה שמתאימה לכל אחד, אבל לאלו שכן, היא הרבה יותר מעניינת, מהנה ומועילה מאשר לשבת ולכתוב סיכומים בהרצאה. בכל מקרה, גם מי שרואה עצמו כאדם מעט מופנם יוכל להסתדר בלי בעיה אם הוא יגיע עם הגישה הנכונה ויהיה מוכן להשתתף לפחות פעם ביום-יומיים.

לגבי נושא הפופולטיקה, והעובדה שלא תמיד יודעים מה התשובה הנכונה: גם בחיים לא יודעים מה התשובה הנכונה, וצריך לקבל החלטות המבוססות על מידע חלקי. בכל מקרה, תמיד ניתן לברר מה עשתה החברה המדוברת בפועל והאם זה הצליח (וממה שראיתי בינתיים בביקורים שלי כן מקבלים לפעמים בסוף השיעור מידע נוסף לגבי התוצאה).

אני נדרש להעביר לאוניברסיטה אליה התקבלתי סכום של 1000$ בצ'ק או במזומן ובצרוף מסמכים שונים. היות וצ'ק ישראלי לא בדיוק מהווה אופציה אני צריך למצוא דרך טובה להעברת המזומן.
דרך בנק הדואר התהליך (העברת מזומן) יקר ומסובך, ו-Fedex, DHL וברינקס לא מספקות שרות מתאים.

עצות?

לא יודע מה לגבי בנקים אחרים, אבל בנק לאומי מוציא צ'קים דולריים דרך הסניף שלו בניו-יורק, אשר תקפים כמעט בכל מקום בעולם. אתה פשוט צריך לגשת לסניף שלך וינפיקו לך צ'ק במקום. אמנם יש עמלה די גבוהה, אבל גם העברות בנקאיות כרוכות בעמלות גבוהות. זה מה שאני עשיתי – חבל (וקשה מאוד) לשלוח מזומן. גם צ'קים כמעט אף חברה לא מוכנה להעביר. החברה היחידה שמוכנה היא DHL וגם אז אך רק במידה והצ'ק למוטב בלבד, וללא כל אחריות.
