    Hi,

    Unfortunately I don’t have good news. While some people do get accepted ultimately, the vast majority does not. The reason is the exceptionally high acceptance rate that HBS has. I personally know 2 Israelis who wait-listed in the past two years. None of them made it to the program. If you would like to have a phone conversation on the matter, please leave your email address on this web site and I will send you my home number.

    Thanks.

    I wouldn't say so. It is correct that in the past 3 years there has been at least one Israeli studnet with TAU LLB in every class. Having said that, there is no policy on the matter and it is more than possible that HBS will not take any Israeli student with TAU LLB for one (or more) of its future classes.

    As far as I know 6 Israeli students were admitted to the class of 2005 (4+2) and 5 to the class of 2004 (4+1). All of them accepted the offers. I appreciate your additional information about acceptance of Israeli students to the Harvard Business School but this is the information that I have.

    Hi,

    Some info about Israelis at HBS during the past years:

    * Class of 2003: 4 were admitted in R1 and 1 in R2

    * Class of 2004: 4 were admitted in R1 and 1 in R2

    * Class of 2005: 4 were admitted in R1 and 2 in R2

    As for the class of 2006, assuming that 4 Israelis were admitted in R1, i guess that 1-2 will be admitted in R2.

    HBS has several fellowship funds. This include a “general” need-based fund, a fund for first year students who decide to pursue a summer internship with a nonprofit organization (“social enterprise”), a fund for first year students who decide to pursue a summer internship with a startup company in the hi-tech industry, a fund for second-year students who accept a job offer with a relative low compensation (“Supplemental EC Fund”) etc.

    HBS describes the rational behind having so many fellowship funds as follows: “The HBS fellowship program is built on a strong tradition of giving back to the School and investing in its future. Fellowships allow the School to maintain its policy of need-blind admissions, enabling us to attract the best and brightest students regardless of financial capacity.”

    The criteria for getting a fellowship from the need based fund are mainly:

    1. your pre-HBS gross salary
    2. your total assets (i.e., do you own an apartment, do you have any long-term funds etc.)
    3. your current ongoing expenses. For that matter, married couples – especially those that have kids – are more likely to get a fellowship (though many single students get it as well).

    As I indicated in one of my past replies, every student is also eligible to CitiAssist student loans. The amount is around $130,000 for the whole program.

    Hope I was helpful.

    Hi,

    1. Why Harvard? a combination of several reasosn: the case method, the size of the school (900 students every year), the alumni network, the brand recognition among recruiters and others, the faculty level, the resources (more than excellent!), the potential for financial aid, the location.

    2. jobs: at HBS you have access to thousands of people who graduated from HBS and are ready to help in your job hunt. In terms of the job market – this year is definitely much better than the previous one and in my opinon, the next one will be even better.

    3. Financial aid – every student at HBS is eligible to student loans of around $65,000 a year (or around $130,000 for the whole program. The exact amount depends on your personal status, i.e., whether you are married or single, with or w/o children etc.)

    In addition, many students at HBS (including a decent part of the Israeli students) receive fellowships on an annual basis. You will get further information about fellowships as part of your admission process.

    Yoni-

    That's correct. 100% of the classses at HBS are based on the case method. I think it is a very powerful tool for 3 main reasons: 1. the discussion is focused on real business dilemas and not fictitious ones. 2. every case invloves issues from different business arenas (i.e., finance, strategy, operations) and thereby, allows you to deal with several dimensions of a certain business situation (again, this is a good reflection of the "real world"). 3. The case method exposes you to numerous industries and companies. This knowledge is very useful in case you will have to deal with a relevant industry/company in the future.

    Thanks.

    Hi Roy-

    You can extend the health insurance so it will apply for your spouse
    as well (works with Blue Shield at HBS).
