היי.

אותו כנ"ל כמו הח'ברה.

למה מנע"ס? ואז ספר על מצב שבו … (משהו שלילי כמו ביקורת/אתגר וכו')

דברים שאני הופתעתי מהם:

1) הראיון היה מאד קצר (4 שאלות שלה ואז זמן לשאלות שלי)

2) היה ממש קשה לקרוא אותה, היא היתה מאד נחמדה וידידותית אבל לא הצלחתי להרגיש אם יש ביננו כימיה (לעומת ראיונות אחרים שבהם מיד הבנתי אם אני מתקשר עם המראיין)

3) היה אחלה נוף (היא ישבה בקפיטריה מול הים)

ככה או ככה היה לה יום עמוס, אם הבנתי אותה נכון היא ראיינה היום 8 ישראלים וביום רביעי עוד 6 !

Hi Guys.

How are you?

I am currently visiting HBS (didn't get an interview)… all designed to give you a "wow" impression.

Talked with the admissions office (nice but not very responsive) they said that they are still reviewing applciations and will send invites up to the 30 of march. As far as I can tell no Israeli got invite for the 2nd round yet….

Yesterday I was at MIT (thanks for kassifo for his help!) also very nice.

Apperently MIT didn't send any invetations to israeli yet because some people from the addmission comittee will fly to Israel and interview candidates in Israel.

היי ישראל,

דבר ראשון בלי לחץ, בסוף תקבל ראיון ויהיו לך גזים בראיון מרוב לחץ…

קיבלתי ראיון לסטנפורד אז הם שולחים ראיונות, אבל במקומך עוד לא הייתי נלחץ (לניו-יורק קיבלתי ראיון שבועיים וחצי אחרי שהם התחילו לשלוח לישראלים).

לגבי אמאייטי והרווארד, עזוב אותך הם לא מבינים בטיים טו מרקט…

עד שהם יתאוששו כבר יחטפו אותנו בתי ספר אחרים.

חוץ מזה, קסייפו המפורסם מסר לי שהוא דיבר עם רוד גרסיה המהולל והוא אמר לו שהם עוד לא שלחו הזמנות לישראלים.

והתקבל… מה שאומר שהם רק מחפשים מישהו עם ביצים

בכל מקרה לגבי זה שאתה מדבר עם אשתך כמו בחיבורים אתה מתכוון למשהו בסגנון של:

What was the most interesting question?: Why Sloan? (I wasn't expecting it, but perhaps I didn't show enough enthusiasm in my app. I'm glad I had another opportunity to show it though)
What was the most difficult question?: Tell me about a work you had to know with people different from you, or someone you didn't get along with, or someone whose personality is different than yours.
I was also asked questions about my professional experience, none of which was difficult.

What was the most difficult question?: Other than the example used in the essay, tell me about one occasion where you had to convince someone to do something.

2) How will you make a decision if you are admitted to all the schools to which you applied?
3) What are your plans in the event you are not accepted to any MBA programs?
4) Hypothetical: It's your first day of class at Stern, and you're introduced to your new "team" members which you'll be doing projects with over the next year. You're given a problem to solve. What is your role in your new team?
5) What would your boss say is your biggest weakness?
6) What would your colleagues say are your strengths?

What was the most difficult question?: What did I learn from my management experience i.e. what did my direct reports teach me? What is some constructive critism that you have received?

What was the most interesting question?: What differentiates Stanford from other schools? I said teaching methods, close student interaction… the interview pushed back and said HBS also had this.. what ELSE is different? Point: back up answers with a few well thought out points

-talk about one time when i was leading a team
-give an example of bad leadership (me part of the team, not at the lead)

The interviewer asks questions in 4 main areas to gain insight into your character:
Rationale for an MBA (and why Stanford), Leadership ability/style, Motivation and Self awareness.

What was the most difficult question?: There were no unexpected questions. Since the alum only had access to my resume, he went through the basic questions on leadership, teamwork, weaknesses, failure, etc. It looked like Stanford had provided him with a long list of generic questions from which he could choose.
What was the most interesting question?: I was expected a leadership question about myself but he ended up asking me if I had ever had a poor leader and why. I was able to talk about someone I had worked with who was a poor leader and the lessons I extrapolated from that experience and how I applied that to my own leadership style.

What was the most difficult question?: Describe characteristics of a bad team member or supervisor you've worked with.
What was the most interesting question?: What qualities are important for good leadership?

What was the most difficult question?: Why do you want to be an entrepreneur? What drives you to that goal?

What was the most interesting question?: Do you think you live in the shadow of your father? (I had mentioned him in an essay – however, he was not Harvard alumni)

Did you feel prepared?: Yes – She asked a lot about choices I had made in my life. Why did I make the choices I did, what other options did I have, what other choices would I have made if I hadn't made the ones I did.

What was the most difficult question?: All questions were expected. They revolved around leadership.

לקרנגי מלון יש כמה תוכניות שמשלבות מדעי המחשב עם MBA:

תואר משולב שלהם (JOINT) לומדים קורסים משני התחומים ומקבלים תואר אחד

תואר כפול (DUAL( לומדים את שני התארים ביחד

בנוסף יש להם תואר של MBA עם התמחות במערכות ממוחשבות לפיננסיים (או משהו כזה)

לגבי תוכניות לימודים של שנה אחת:

למיטב ידיעתי יש שלושה בתי ספר שיש להם תוכניות מקוצרות שאורכות שנה (מתחילות ומסתיימות במאי).

התוכניות אורכות 3 סמסטרים (כולל סמסטר קיץ כך שאין אפשרות לעבוד בקיץ) ומסתמכות על זה שלמועמד ידע וניסיון מוקדם בנושאים מסויימים ולכן אפשר להעביר בנושאים הללו CRASH COURSES קצרים

בגלל שהתוכניות לוקחות רק 3 סמסטרים הם גם זולות יותר בשלושת רבע מתוכניות מקבילות של שנתיים.

בתי הספר שאני מכיר שיש להם תוכניות מקוצרות לבעלי תואר ראשון במנע"ס או כלכלה הם: KELLOG ו גויזטה

לקורנל יש תוכנית מקוצרת למהנדסים בעלי ניסיון עבודה והיא היחידה שנותנת תואר מקוצר לאנשים ממקצועות ראליים.

הקורס מועבר כולו בשפה האנגלית (נדמה לי שבקידום הקורס בעברית) מה שיכול להוות יתרון או חיסרון תלוי בך…

לגבי הצוות של GMAX יש לי רק מילים חמות, והוא אחלה צוות

לגבי קידום,

קיבלתי כמה המלצות חמות על הקורסים בקידום

נדמה לי שיש להם יותר מבחנים ושיעורים על מחשבים יחסית לקורס בGMAX

עוד נקודה שחשוב לדעת היא שבקידום אתה מקבל ספרים חדשים ובGMAX ספרים ישנים שאתה צריך להחזיר

עוד מגבלה נוספת שחשוב לדעת הוא שמבחינת המיקום לקידום יש מספר סניפים ואילו

לGMAX יש רק סניף אחד שהוא די תקוע בדרום תל אביב (בן יהודה)

בשורה התחתונה נראה לי ששני הבתי ספר הם טובים מאד ואין הבדל משמעותי בינהם

תבחר בבי"ס שבו מועד הקורס והמיקום נוח יותר

תודה רבה על התשובה… לצערי היא לא חידשה לי הרבה אך עשתה זאת בחן רב

הבעיה היא כמובן בשאלה הראשונה שלי, שלא היתה מנוסחת טוב, מה שהייתי מעוניין לשמוע עליו זה יותר על דוגמאות למקומות עבודה בארץ או אנשים שבהם התואר ב MBAעשה את ההבדל.

לדוגמא י. שלמד לMBA בסטנפורד עבד שנתיים במ. בארה"ב והלך לעבוד בארץ בבנק לאומי כמנהל סניף וכו'

אם יש כאן אנשים שיודעים לספר על חברות כאלו או ממש דוגמאות חיות

אני אשמח לשמוע מהם/עליהם (לשון זכר אך מופנה גם לנקבות)

רציתי לשאול לידע כללי, עד כמה באמת עוזר תואר MBA בארץ?

בהנחה שלא נשארים בארה"ב יותר מידי (נניח שנתיים לכסות את ההלוואה) וחוזרים אח"כ לארץ, איזה ארגונים מחפשים בוגרי מנהל עסקים ולאיזה סוגי משרות?

ברור שהדבר תלוי בתחום (מימון הייטק וכו') ובשנות הניסיון, אבל רק רציתי לקבל רושם לגבי סוגי משרות הפתוחות בפני בוגרים….

יש לי עוד שאלה שאותה אני רוצה להפנות לגלעם, בנוגע להתלבטות הקשורה ל"תכנון" קורות החיים לאחר שהגעתי להחלטה עקרונית כי אני מעוניין ללכת למסלול של

MBA בעוד כשנתיים בארה"ב.

מבחינת קורות החיים שלי עד היום:

אני (כמעט) בן 27. סיימתי תואר ראשון במדעי המחשב בהצטיינות באוניברסיטה העברית לפני כשנתיים. עבדתי כמהנדס תוכנה במהלך התואר ואחריו בחברת סטארטאפ במשך כשלוש וחצי שנים. לפני כחצי שנה עברתי לחברת סטרטאפ חדשה.

נקודות נוספות שצריך לציין: במהלך התואר הייתי סגן יו"ר אגודת הסטודנטים בגבעת רם ואחראי על 10 רכזים במשך כשנתיים.

לפני האוניברסיטה עבדתי בתור מנהל אבטחת איכות והייתי אחראי על צוות של 4

בודקי תוכנה למשך מספר חודשים

בצבא שרתתי כחייל במודיעין חיל אויר.

לפני הצבא הייתי מספר שנים מדריך בתנועת נוער צופי ים.

לאחר ההקדמה הארוכה, אני מגיע ללב העניין:

.אני מרגיש שהחולשה שלי בקורות חיים היא שלא הייתי בתפקיד ראש צוות תוכנה עדיין

אני לא כל כך מרוצה בחברת הסטארט אפ החדשה שאני נמצא בה , אני שוקל לעזוב את החברה ולנסות להיות עצמאי ויחד עם חבר להקים חברה לפתרונות תוכנה.

השאלה שלי היא מבחינת ההסתכלות של ועדות הקבלה על קורות החיים,

האם זה שלא הייתי בתפקיד ניהולי ספציפי למקצוע שלי עשוי להפריע? האם עדיף לי לנסות להשאר בסטרטאפ במטרה להיות שם ראש צוות? או שדווקא הניסיון לעשות את זה לבד יכול להתקבל בחיוב? כמוכן האם יש השלכה שלילית לכך שעזבתי מקום עבודה לאחר תקופה קצרה יחסית?
