Hey Yotam,
Unfortunately, there will not be much happening on campus during those dates. The second years start on either the 17th or 24th and most of us are traveling before hand. There is a chance that the first year's first week will start on the 10th (although I am not sure of this either).
Shoot me an e-mail if you want me to send an e-mail around to the students to see if anyone will be in the area.
If you want to talk, I will be in Israel from next week and you are welcome to contact me: [email protected] . I will also be making a special guest appearance on Friday morning and the MBA Fair on the 31st :-).
Have a great trip!

crocop,
In order to get a decent answer you will have to refine your question. What do you mean by recommendations for the essays?
On the topic of cost of living in CA – it is definitely expensive but so are Boston & NYC. Depending on your status when you come (single, couple, children) the school offers on campus housing at set prices (though not cheap). Additionally, every student has the option of receiving a partial need based fellowship that helps in the overall expense.
I hope this helps a little.

Irena,
You are more than welcome to contact me. Despite not having spent 1 min. in a class here (they start in 3 weeks) I'll be happy to help in any way I can.

I'm sorry, I don't see the direct relevance of the class size to the quality of the MBA program. I applied to Stanford specifically due to the small size of the class. I have no doubt that if the program would have been another 900 graduates-a-year program many of the people who applied there wouldn't have, I know I wouldn't.
While I have heard and can appreciate the advantages of a large class, I feel that Stanford plans and minimizes most of the disadvantages while retaining the plusses of a small program.
Disclaimer: I have spent a total of 3 days in California my entire life and am only moving out there on the 19th so take everything written above as one guy's "impartial" opinion.

Stanford is indeed a dream school.
That said Shira & I had our hearts set on Tuck and with the difference in $$ (by my calculation ~$60K) it is a difficult decision that deserves careful consideration.

We are still considering the different options and unfortunately aren't close to a decision.

GP,
I felt the GMAT course was very good.
Both Tzachi and Irene are dedicated teachers who know what they're talking about and how to teach. I think you can definitely learn from them and improve dramatically if you commit to their teaching methods and the seemingly impossible amount of work they recommend you do.
That said like anyone they are at their best when pushed to the edge. They are willing to help you as much as you need outside the course hours with specific questions. I took advantage of this fact and during the course and in the 2 weeks between the course and the test I was in constant contact with them about anything and everything.
Of course you should take everything I wrote above in light of the fact that I didn't try any other course/school so I can't say anything intelligent about how the school is in comparison to others.
Good Luck,
Avishai

First of all Congratulations on the interview!!!
I received the same invitation (it's the standard e-mail) but after I contacted the admissions I received the contact info for a local alumnus with whom I coordinated the interview date.
Contact them, I'm sure a convenient arrangement will be available.
Good Luck!!!

Hope this helps you.

Dear Irene,
I just wanted to publicly thank you and the entire Meitav team for all your hard work and winning attitude.
Although the course was thorough and was done in a way that accentuated your professionalism and commitment, it was all the extra hours of answering questions and helping with trouble spots that really made the difference for me.
My achievement (770) is as much yours as it is mine.

Hi Gilam,
Porata posted the following link in a different thread:
BusinessWeek article:
http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/apr2005/nf2005047_8428_db016.htm
I am extremely interested to hear your opinion on what is stated in the article. Is this a known trend? How should this change ones considerations for applying to a top MBA program? What are the foreseeable ramifications of such a trend?
Thanks for the help,
Avishai

Hello All,
I have a few general questions for anyone who has traveled abroad for their Mba with a family (I am planning to apply for fall 2006 at the time my son will be 2.5 y.o.):
Are there schools that are known to be more "family friendly" than others?
What things should I research ahead of time in order to help me reach a well informed decision regarding living in the specific community with a family?
How does having a family effect the experience?
What general advice can you offer me from your experiences?
Thanks,
Avishai
