To: Assaf Wand
Hi Assaf,
I must admit that I haven't done much research about the school.
The main reason is that I found that not many people in Israel (and outside of the USA) are aware of U. of Chicago's brand – not just the business school but in general. I didn't perform a thorough research but talking to our business' clients that's the general feeling. What I mean is that people here recognize Yale, Princeton, Harvard… I aimed for great business schools, which names' would also carry over.

I'm not personally acquainted with any other Wharton applicants in R1.
I applied to columbia, harvard, mit, stanford, wharton. No good news so far.
Considering nyu, kellogg, berkeley for 2nd round.
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4876To: dalit
Yes and I just received bad news – ding!
I have to assess my application and apply for R2.
Mazal tov to all those who made it in.
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4864To: All
Good luck to all the people looking to hear from Wharton today.
I think you meant to reply to dailt.
I'm waiting for Wharton's decisions so I hope I get to share the feeling.

Mazal Tov!

Boaz,
I'm sorry to hear about Wharton but any of the schools you're applying to is great…I'm certain things will get better.
Good luck and keep your moral up!
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4789To: boazcn
boaz,
What is your status? To which schools did you apply?
How many Israelies were interviewed in R1?
This is very strange – to my best knowledge only you received interview invite from MIT and HBS and you say you know someone (again only one) who was interviewed for Stanford. I thought that they interview/admit more Israelies.
Hi dudy,
Where did you apply? – any news so far?
Way to go! It seems that you've submitted great applications – I'm certain that next year you'll attend one of these great schools. Did you get the email from Stanford that they've prepared your application? – when?
Good luck with your phone interview and in general

Hey,
Any news from Stanford or Sloan?
Hey,
Re. Stanford – I'm in the same status as you for online app. and interview invite.
HBS – sorry to hear but I wouldn't rush to any conclusions – I think HBS tries to grill people in interviews. Since you're the only Israeli I know who was interviewed and they most probably will admit Israelies in R1 you stand good chances. Only 50 days to wait now :-) I sure hope I get a chance to interview.
Has the person who was interviewed for Stanford received a "you're considered in R1" email beforehand?
Good Luck.
Hey,
How did the interview go? Have you heard of other interview invitations?
Did you get the mail from Stanford that you're considered in R1?
Good Luck!
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4530To: michaelc
Wow! That's great – you're doing great with your application.
Thanks for the wishes.
Where else did you apply? Any news other than Wharton & Columbia?
Thanks again for updating – it's no relief but it's better than total uncertainty.
Hi abc,
I'm a fellow applicant but from what I gathered the TOEFL is used as a threshold. Since you cleared the hurdle (including HBS' 263 minimum), I don't think retaking it would be the best use of your time.
However, if you do not feel comfortable with this, it's only several hours to prepare for the exam in order to do well on it. And again: bare in mind that at the end of the day the essays are what distinguishes one applicant from the others rather than just statistics (GPA,GMAT,TOEFL,WE…).
Good Luck.

Hey,
Cograts! Where's the interview? When did you submit?
I wish myself the same. (with an admit at the end, of course)
What's your status with other schools?
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4477To: dalit
Well.. good luck. I thought that you applied to more schools since you reported that you visited some schools but unfortunately we currently do not share the same schools (I applied to MIT in the first round).
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4474To: dalit
Dalit,
If I may ask to what schools did you apply in the first round? What's the status?
I'd appreciate your candor since I have developed a true stress condition. Anyhow, good luck to you.

Did anyone get admitted or invited to interview at Columbia for September 2005?
I'd appreciate replies (even NO is good) because I'm frantic by now (submitted at the end of September).
Thanks a lot!!!!!!

There are places in which I put each "average" next to the concentration – like in the CV. In the Excel templates I tried to follow their format so I calculated the weighted average of the 2 concentrations.
I hope that this is ok.

For people who interviewed for Wharton:
How many alumni did your search result provide?
Is it wise to use the search option more than once?

2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4270To: boazcn
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #4268To: All

All,
Let's all update here if we hear anything from any of the schools.
Good Luck to all us Israelies!
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3997To: ofek
I think that the exact order is (to my best understanding):
Cum Laude
Magna cum Laude
Summa cum Laude
If that's what they write then write this – I believe it is considered a bit less than with a "magna" prefix. How many levels of honors do you have at the Technion? (2 or 3). If it's 2 maybe you could ask them to change this to Magna cum Laude. However, if it's a lot of trouble I wouldn't fret about it because that won't have that much weight on your admissions success.
Good Luck
The Dean's List is a different story and it's for achievements during one academic year
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3991To: ofek
magna cum laude / summa cum laude
dean's list / ???'s list
2: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3936To: mayal

Which schools are you applying to? R1/R2?
What's your current position and intented one post a US-MBA?
1: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3826To: boazcn
why are you doing an MBA again? is it something common?
1: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3796To: assaf_shalvi
Hi Assaf,
I think that US business schools (at least top 20 or so) require the completion of a B.A. Some programs admit people straight from undergraduate or with little post-B.A. work experience but this would require very compelling reasons and past achievements.
I know that INSEAD has admitted people without a B.A. but I guess that you have to be an outstanding candidate with some interesting experiences in order for you to get that.
I'm no expert and certainly don't know your entire story but I think that in general it's better to complete the B.A. and gain at least a year or two of post-B.A. experience and only then apply. This would increase your chances of being admitted but more than that it is said to increase the value of your learning period.
I hope I helped a little
1: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3793To: galanos
I think that it is designed for people that have completed a business undergraduate degree within the past 5 years.

The only problem with your comment is that people that didn't/don't bother to go through these boards in the first place won't see your post.

Hi,
I don't think that universities in Israel (I myself attended Tel Aviv University) release (or even have) such class ranking data. I think you'd be fine with the plain grades sheet but I'm a fellow applicant like you so I'm definitely no expert on the matter.
I am using the self reported transcript (excel template) – why are you submitting a hard copy?
1: ???Any Israeli Applicants #3669To: greenfeld
NONPROFIT:
1 Yale
2 Harvard + Stanford
4 Berkeley
5 Columbia + Kellogg + Case Western Reserve University (Weatherhead) (OH)
8 Duke (Fuqua) + UofMich-Ann Arbor
10 UCLA
I hope this helps. If you need more info let me know.
