Thank you for your time and for your patience.

I would like to ask a question that has been bothering a couple of us applicants: we feel that CBS doesn't like Israelis. That is that very few of us (in percentage) receive interview invitations, even those who submitted ED, and that even a smaller percentage gets admitted to CBS in comparison to other top B-schools. It seems to be a school policy for the last couple of years. Any was this situation can change?

I understand that I can't see what my recommender wrote. But one of my recommenders is a very busy and important man. In addition, he doesn't fully know what a good recommendation look like – what is expected of him. Can I give him an example of the kind of recommendation I would have loved to get from him (this way, I can also refresh his memory regarding specific examples from our mutual experience, etc.)? I will not know what he sent, and will not see what he sent, i will not even know if he used the example I gave him.

By going too young into MBA you might miss few important parts of the experience.
You may find it hard to contribute in class and hard to reflect new knowledge on past experience. There is also a chance you will find it hard to fit in socially with your classmates.

Hi Or,

I am a student at University of Chicago GSB, and I will try to answer some of your questions.

A) Universities today do admit several young applicants (although the average age has risen both in Kellogg and in our school in the last year)- many recruiters, in particular consulting and I banking ones loves to get "Tabula Rasa" people with good basics to work for them.

B) You would need to show several main things, which I would question from your story- 1) Why do you need an MBA ? and Why now?- you just finished 2 degree in CS and you already want to pursue an MBA. It seems like you are not focued enough and maybe just pursuing degrees- you should make it very clear why you want an MBA and now

2) Usually the younb people they admit have two very strong things: A) very strong academic proof- which I guess you have B) Substential leadership experience- chairman of the student body etc' (I understood that you haven't gone through military??)

To sum it up, generaly speaking it is possible, although you are on the younger side of the young definition. You need to show why now and why MBA? and you need strong academic skills and leadership.

I would suggest that you should work for 2 more years and get some more focus (why did you work in a bank when you have CS degree?) before applying.

Hi Gilam,

I would like to get your standpoint on the following subject.

I scored a 690 on my GMAT (AWA – 5). The problem is that I took the GMAT 5 times.

(my first score was a solid 460)

I wanted to know if and how should I explain it to the admission committee, and What are my chances of acceptance to an Ivy League schools with that score and a 3.3 GPA and 5 years work experience (excluding army service).

I agree with stumguy.

If you you will score more than 680 on the GMAT and you are a woman (for a man I would say 700), you shouldn't worry about your GPA.

Naftali – I am a 2nd year student in one of the better schools
around. I prefer not to disclose my name / sign-name.

I think that Tova's services are way too over-priced and that the institute she represent takes advantage of people who are either miss-informed or under stress (or both). I am not saying it is wrong, since this is how economy works, I am just giving my opinion. You can shop around… these services cost a lot of money and they not necessary pay-off

For myself – I took a wrong advise from Tova personally. After talking to me over the phone for 2-3 minutes she advised / discouraged me from applying to some schools I really really wanted. Based on her advise… and also because I was tired from the long process (I must admit..) I gave up on applying for two of these schools. At the same time, I was lucky that I applied to some of these schools even before consulting with Tova … since I ended up getting into few of them despite her saying that I have slim to no chance at these schools.

My advise – do your own research and listen to your own voice. If you choose to work with consultants… manage them (!), don’t let them manage you, and don't listen to them as if they are god.
