    Hi Naama,

Duke has a balanced approach. All core courses will have a mix of lectures and cases. Some classess, such as marketing and strategy, will tend to have more cases while classes like accounting and finance which are more thechnical will be more frontal. The electives will also have a mix.

All the work at Duke is done in teams, even in the more technical courses. Duke has a strong repution for team work.

Feel free to stop by at the Kidum fair next week and sepak with current students to learn more.

    Issac,

You should look at Duke's program. I think you'll find that it meets many of your criteria (GMAT is still imoprtant, but could be easily offset by other factors such as the interview).

There's a focus on social responsibilty including environmental issues if that is an area you'd like to pursue further. In any case, it is a general management program.

    Reut,

I'd be happy to speak to you about Duke's HSM (Health Sector Management) program, considered by many one of the top programs.

The only comment I would make is that the pharma/ biotech career path is unique and you need to carefully consider what schools you apply to. You should consider what pharma/ biotech companies are recruiting and whether that school is considered a target school.

Would be happy to answer questions related to career in pharma/ biotech.

    Ayelet,

I'm not sure I understood your question – are you asking whether the school provides grades to recruiters or to students?

In any case, at Duke, the school does not give out grades to recruiters.

Students are graded on a curve: SP (Superior Pass), HP (High Pass), P, LP (Low Pass) and F.

    Hope this helps,

At this stage you're competing with other Israelis, not other internationals, so the point you're trying to make is less valid.

    Itai,

It is being considered by the adimission. What I meant to say is that you also need to think on how you present this exeprience in the interview, especially if you interview in Israel.

    Itai,

That depends on the school and the interviewer. I'm not sure what the rules are for the different schools, except for Duke.

    Itai,

Schools look at this expereince very favorably. You gain leadership experience (no matter at what level), team work, etc.

That said, keep in mind that you're competing with other Israelis so you need to think carfully what was it about your army experience that is unique.

    Hope this helps,

You need to understand there's a huge difference between how Israelis look at a resume and the way americans do.

The sooner you understand the difference and accept it, the easier it would be for you to "sell" yourself to schools and future employers.

    Good luck,

    Gilam,

With all due respect, I'm not sure how you detremine the rankings.

Furthermore, your "sampling size" is rather small and does not reflect the true nature of schools.

As you know, the true reputation of a school is determined by the perception of recruiters in the US and is rarely affected by published rankings.

Every applicant should do their homework to determine the best school to meet their expectations: career, culture, fit, etc.

    Moshe,

UNC is regional school and does not attract top companies. Recruiting is difficult. Brand name is not strong.

Darden (Virginia) is a leading school with good career opportunities, especially in banking/ consulting. Not that strong in marketing (from recruiter perspective).

    Hope this helps,

I meant east coast. Most companies in the US are based in the east coast and they tend not to recruit on the west coast, unless they have a regional office there.

As some who has done marketing in corporate America, I can tell you that this study is worth nothing.

Marketing is not just about advertising. Actually, the advertising portion is limited and usually comes at the end of a long process, that to manage successfuly, one needs to use many of the tools an MBA provides.

Furthermore, moving up from brand management to more general management roles, an MBA is almost a must.

    Dovi,

Given your interest, I would choose Darden. UNC is not worth it even with a scholarship.

While UCLA is a great school, the east coast opportunities are quite limited.

    Eliko,

With all due respect, B-school is not always the "perfect" place to figure out what you want to do.

The career search is very demanding, practically a full time job in it self.

I-banking and consulting are probably the most demanding in terms of the efforts required and as such, you can not pursue both (I know many people who have tried and gave up).

You don't need the classes to figure out what you're interested in. You have your class mates who are coming from those backgrounds. After attending several corporate presentations, it would be easy for you to figure out.

    Dror,

I applied to some of the schools that you have on your list.

I made my decision based on several key issues: school atmosphere (after visiting the school), friendliness of students, type and caliber of recruiters, area and cost of living. To me Duke has won on all these accounts.

Also, I was interested in the pharmaceuitcal industry and Duke has one of the best healthcare programs with a great reputation among recruiters. My target company (the compnay I wanted to work for the most) does not recruit at any of the other schools I looked at.
