    Shachar,

Untill recently I did not even consider MIT as I thought this school was not the right fit for me. My biggest mistake was not visiting the school when I was in Boston visiting other options.

Recently I have been hearing very positive things about the school and it's fit for me and my goals, therefore I look forward to meeting you and hearing all you have to say about the school.

Additionally if you could spare me some time after the meeting, I would like to discuss and hear your opinion about my fit with MIT.

    Thanks,

    AZ

    These should be our problems!

In any case I agree that once you are "in", most schools will be at least a little flexible with this point. After all, they decided they want you, and offered you a place in their class.

+ They wouldn't want to damage their yeild!

Additionally, because you are applying in the first round, giving you a little extra time should not affect the wait list, so I really see no reason for them to give you a problem.

I would imagine this is true for most schools except for maybe those schools who are known to be stricter about other things as well (Harvard).

    Good luck to us all,

    AZ

I posted this in the general forum but thought it might be better to post here to, in case someone missed it on the main board:

Out of curiosity, what happens to someone who submits to Columbia Early Decision round, but then, for any reason, decides not to attend Columbia? Are there any other repercussions other then losing the $5,000 deposit?

Please share your expereinces, thoughts and opinions.

    Thanks.

    I'll get things started.

Are you applying to the same schools that rejected you last time or are you adding new schools to your list?

if you are adding new schools – why did you not apply to them first time arouns? Are you only applying to them this time because you believe your chances as a re-applicant are low to all the schools you would prefer?

    I'll get things started.

I am curious as to how many reapplicants there are here in the forum? Are you reapplying to all of the schools you applied to last time round?

Also I would like to hear your opinions regarding the use of Consultants in the application process. Has anyone used American companies for this? Are there any other Israeli companies other then Aringo?

    Thanks

    I'll get things started.

How many reapplicants are there on the forum?

Have any of you worked with consultants, whether from Israel (is there anyone else other then Aringo?) or from the U.S.?

    Any recommendations? Warnings?

I did not use a consultant last time and am seriously considering to do so this time around. Sadly it has become the standard, and it seems like you must play the game this way in order to stll have a fighting chance.

I am a reapplicant this year after applying last year while during Staj.

Besides it being VERY hard to put in the time and effort needed for a strong application (especially if you are in a good firm) getting through the Staj period and landing a succesful job as a lawyer will strengthen your candidcay tremendously (based on the details you gave above).

Now, as a lawyer, in a succesful job, I have the time to create the kind of applications that are needed for the top schools, such as those you listed.

Take it from me, wait, strengthen your candidacy and do it right the first time!

I too have tried to contact the managing powers of this forum in order to open a new thread for ReApplicants.

The ReApplication process has many complications and details which are unique and the (sadly) many members reapplying can definitely learn and appreciate from their collective experiences.

Additionally it could also be a place of comfort and encouragement through, hopefully many, success stories.

Vote "Yes" for the new "ReApplicant" thread!

Even if we are not all offered CXO positions after graduation, I would just like to wish us all to eventually (and sooner rather then later) be driving a Porsche…

or at least have the ability too (I completely understand that due to matters of personal taste some of you might prefer a Ferrari).

If you already have experience in the field (even if you are changing career) the MBA experience abroad encompasses many special and unique experiences/intercations/classes, not offered in the program sin israel, allowing you to add experience in a shorter amount of time.

However, this experience will not be worth anything and nit propel you forward any faster if you don't have the work experience to back it up. That is why getting this experience abroad is critical. You are implementing your unique schooling experience and learning how to actually use it in the real world.

Then coming back here will be like driving a Porsche in your own private lane, since no one can compare to you. true, not evrey city (company or position in this metaphore) is suited for such a lane, but where it exists you can put the pedal to metal and fly….

I hope I didn't wear out the Porsche metaphor, I really liked it.

    Eyal,

A friend of mine, a recent Wharton graduate, came to Israel to interview for a job here with one of the major banks, after over a year of experience in the U.S. – the response he received was: "What is Wharton? Where is it?"

Needless to say, he didn't get a job there.

Well, I haven't been around for a couple of weeks but now I am free to refocus on my reapplication for next year (although I am still waitlisted at NYU).

I am curious to know who from our friends here are reapplying. I was happy to see many acceptances amongst the board, so the list should be short. Maybe we could start a seperate thread for reapplicants? How would we do that?

Good luck to you all & a safe return to all those leaving us this summer,

I received this in the e-mail, if there is anyone who has not gotten in to Wharton yet ( j/k) you might want to consider Australia….

I imagine most everybody received this e-mail from HBS:

    ______________________________________________________

Greetings from Harvard Business School MBA Admissions! Thank you for submitting your Round 1 application. We'd like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on our admissions process.

    Process Update

We appreciate the time and effort you invested in completing the application. Since the Round 1 submission deadline in October, we have been working hard to thoroughly review every application we received.

As we continue to review applications, we have begun to extend interview invitations. We will continue to do so up until the Round 1 notification date of January 18th.

Should you be invited by the Admissions Board to interview, you will receive an email with the subject line: "HBS Interview."

Admissions decisions will be available on the Apply Yourself website at noon on January 18th. All candidates will receive an email communication from HBS on the 18th directing you to the Apply Yourself website to view your decision.

    Holiday Hours

Harvard Business School will be closed from December 23rd through January 2nd. Although the School will resume classes on January 3rd, the Admissions Office will be open beginning Monday, January 2nd.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at color=#003366admissio[email protected].

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season,

    The MBA Admissions Board
    Harvard Business School
    Soldiers Field Road

    _________________________________________________________

I am curious to know if everyone received this e-mail?

If people who have received an interview notification already and/or if some people did not receive this e-mail, it could be a sign that they have not yet reviewed my application.

That would greatly restore my hope….
